Queerview television guide for July 10

Hairspray: HBO First Look (HBO) 9:00 PM
An early peek at the film adaptation of the smash hit Broadway musical based on the cult hit movie. John Travolta may think there's nothing gay about this film, but I disagree.

Big Brother (CBS) 9:00 PM EDT
So far Joe and Dustin's relationship has gotten considerable screen time, making this edition the first Big Brother season where the gay contestants aren't just tokens. It'll be interesting to see if Nick's flirtations with Joe make into tonight's broadcast.

Rick & Steve The Happiest Gay Couple in All the World (Logo) 10:00 PM EDT
In case you couldn't tell, I loved this offensive, hilarious animated comedy (L-O-V-E-D). Plenty of edgy comedians have gotten a chance to portray gays irreverently, but I can't think of the last time it came from a gay man. It's about time. (I've got the urge to make a quiche, though.)

Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo) 10:00 PM EDT
Okay, who wasn't waiting for this week's episode, where Kathy hosts the Gay Adult Video Awards? This will certainly be an interesting episode -- in addition to the award show, Kathy's performance at an Arizona prison airs tonight.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry: HBO First Look (HBO) 10:45 pm EDT
In case you're not sure how to feel about this upcoming film, here's a chance to sample a little bit more. I'm keeping my distance from this film, but it could be interesting to see how this bit of hype compares to the 30-second ads.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC) 11:35 PM ETD
I might feel very, very guilty later on today for recommending you watch Jay Leno, but it might be worth the headache to see Hairspray's Nikki Blonsky. Adam Sandler also shows up, which might be reason enough to endure Leno's awful hosting or might send you running further away.
