Queerview television guide for June 11

Screened Out: Gay Images in Film (Turner Classic Movies) starting at 5:00 PM EDT
Tonight's films fall under the theme of "Men and Women Behind Bars." You can catch the men behind bars in 1932's Hell's Highway and 1957's The Strange One. Since this makes me think of HBO's prison drama, Oz, it seems apt that one of tonight's sapphic films features Rita Moreno playing an inmate in 1950's So Young, So Bad.

Reporter Zero (Logo) 5:30 PM EDT
This documentary takes a look at the work of the pioneer, gay journalist Randy Shilts, who actively wrote about AIDS when it was an emerging threat and later wrote the books The Mayor of Castro Street, And the Band Played On and Conduct Unbecoming. Shilts' AIDS reporting was controversial for his calls to close the bathhouses, one of the topics of this biography.

Kinsey (Independent Film Channel) 10:00 PM EDT
Liam Neeson plays Alfred Kinsey, who changed western society with his research into human sexuality. This film is fascinating for its portrayal of how people perceived sex before Kinsey challenged those views. As Kinsey's bisexual assistant, Peter Sarsgaard never turns off his smoldering look.
