Santino to compete in "Gimme a Reality Show!" ... who should his opponents be?
The Fox Reality Channel doesn't hit my radar often. Yes, they did give us the genius of The Search for the Next Elvira but most of their programming is more along the lines of "Rob and Amber learn to play cards" or "Some American Idol producers make a bad business investment" (and let's not get into the obnoxiousness of bringing There's Something About Miriam stateside). I'm not sure if I think their latest project is something to anticipate or dread. Gimme My Reality Show! will take former reality TV cast members who've never been the star of a reality show and have them compete for a show of their own. Right now only Project Runway villain Santino Rice and The Surreal Life's Traci Bingham have signed up for the show. Competitions will focus on "star recognition" which might bring up some schadenfreudilarity with the more egotistical former villains. Since there's only been a little bit of casting done so far, I thought it might be fun to make some suggestions for what other reality TV personalities should compete in Gimme My Reality Show:
Considering that we saw Slavco make a quick exit on America's Most Smartest Model, I'd guess he and his Kept partner-in-jerkiness on Kept, Ricardo, have time free to participate in this one. Any good reality trash needs a bit of beefcake and it's usually satisfying to see them booted off a show.
After the first season of My Life on the D-List, we didn't see Kathy Griffin's "main gay", Tony Tripoli, aside from a role on Fashion House. Tripoli frequently made us laugh on the D-List and I'm sure with this group we'll be needing some humor.
If Fox Reality wants to try to build up people from their past shows Jenny Jenson from The Search for the Next Elvira displayed a hilarious ability for snark and an even-tempered nature that would certainly keep all those dramatic personalities in check.
For me Oscar was the star of Step It Up and Dance, being cute, funny, and, in the 'woefully miscast for the challenges' role (casting a classically trained dancer on a show with so many modern dance styles was even more uncomfortable than watching Candace on the first season of Top Chef) quite the underdog ... Okay, Oscar's so much better than this show, I just want more of him on my teevee. More suggestions after the break!
I have mixed feelings about Dani Campbell, from the first season of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila. On one hand, her genuineness saved that season, which was filled with the desperate-for-attention types I expect on an MTV show. She was likable enough to make spending time with such an odious bunch tolerable and I knew I had no reason to watch the second season when MTV decided Domenico was more deserving of a spin-off. On the other hand, she kept me watching the first season of A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila, which should make me dislike her very much.
I doubt they'd go for two cast members from he same show but wouldn't adding Wendy Pepper into the mix make for an interesting Project Runway battle royale? I did find her rather fascinating for the way she wore her insecurities on her sleeve which, at least, was a step away from the "I'm not here to make friends" cliche.
Overall, though I think if they added Mitch from Meerkat Manor to the cast, we'd have to crown the winner before the cameras start filming. We saw Mitch grow into adulthood and survive danger after danger, combine that with his innate cuteness and he'd be hard to beat. (Mitch is lucky, though, there are no reality shows featuring plucky panda sidekicks.) What do you think? Who deserves to go from making a season memorable to competing for their own show? As long as they don't bring Trishelle or Johnny Fairplay into the mix... Submitted by on Fri, 2008-06-20 12:39. |

I keep cracking up...
OMG!
For a few seconds I thought that guy with the bow tie in the top beefcake picture was Tom Cruise....you know....like back when he was still....appealing...
Dead ringer in the eyes.
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
I see it too!
Wendy Pepper!
