"That's Gay": Bryan Safi takes on "No Homo"

Bryan Safi returns to infoMania (aka "The Daily Show's wiseass kid brother") this week with a new installment of "That's Gay". This time, Safi takes aim at the use of "no homo" in rap and netspeak.

"No homo", you may recall, is a phrase that basically can be translated to "But I don't mean that in a gay (ew) way." Amid demonstrating why it's a dumb thing to say, Safi also points out the homoerotic tendencies in hip hop that make "no homo" look like a transparently bad attempt at overcompensation.

In the wake of Safi's wit, "no homo" starts to look like one of the most ridiculous things you could say, which is probably the most effective way to get people to stop saying it. Check out the clip:

And if you're not watching the rest of infoMania, you're missing out. The whole show is a sharp dissection of the current media landscape and my week just isn't complete without it. You can check out past shows at the infoMania website.
