Who wants to be a TV Bigshot?

Television without Pity has launched a new web game that will probably be the TV geek's obsession for the next season: TV Bigshot, a game that lets web surfers play the role of network programmer. Gosh, and I remember when kids grew up wanting to be an astronaut.

TV Bigshot works like a TV version of a Fantasy Football League. You buy TV shows that are priced based on their Nielsen ratings and try to come up with the strongest line-up. To do well in TV Bigshot, you've got to score points based on your shows success in getting buzz and drawing those all important demographics. Points are gained for ratings, snagging magazine covers and winning awards. Whoever scores the greatest amount of points in monthly showdowns or by the end of the 2007-2008 TV season will win a video iPod (for showdown winners) or $100,000 (for the big winner).

We've started a TV Bigshot network, GayBeeSee which will use shows featured in the Queerview. (Happily, we can't afford every gay TV show offered on TV Bigshot, so we'll have to attempt some strategy.) Right now GayBeeSee's line up consists of Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, Pushing Daisies, and Dirty, Sexy Money. Betty looks likely to pick up the big bonus points from magazine covers. The Greg Berlanti-produced Money, on the other hand looks like a promising buy for premiere week — with the Grey's Anatomy spin-off as a lead-in, it should pull a good sized audience for at least one week, causing the price to jump a bit.

Feel like joining the fun? Point out your network in the comments and we'll add you to GayBeeSee's spy list. We'll check on GayBeeSee's progress as the season progresses.
