Will Spike TV's "PG Porn" web series turn out to be as campy it is on paper?

Michael Rosenbaum, Nathan Fillion

I tend to go back and forth about straight-guy channel Spike TV. The network has certainly earned space on the DVR for series like the frequently-inspired Joe Schmore Show and the gay-inclusive Kill Point. On the other hand, whenever those shows hit a commercial break I'm reminded that I'm not really in Spike's target demographic.

Spike is getting ready to debut a web series that could be a new reason for mixed emotions ... James Gunn's PG Porn will have Nathan Fillion and Michael Rosenbaum performing in porn parodies (minus the sex scenes) with a variety of porn actresses. (I'm reminded of the defunct Trio network's Good Clean Porn specials, which aired actual porn movies with the sex cut out.) Doesn't that sound way campy for a network so full of macho posturing?

I wonder if there's any chance we'll see some gay porn performers join the PG Porn mix. Gay porn performers seem to be a part of the current zeitgeist, after all, and it is all being played for a laugh. And doesn't a certain Mister Ridge claim to have trained with the Second City comedy troupe? We can hope, at least.

Another bit of trivia regarding this project: Gunn previously directed Fillion in the sci-fi comedy Slither, in which he also cast then-wife Jenna Fischer (The Office) as a lesbian policewoman.
