To Make a Long Story Short ...Shrek's trans character, Marie for Rosie? and more!

  • This week's BEST.GAY.WEEK.EVER might as well have been called BEST.GAY.TEEN.SOAP.STORYLINES.EVER what with As the World Turns, Hollyoaks, and Degrassi: The Next Generation getting all gay. BTW, in case you missed today's ATWT, I've got the YouTube clip with the debut of Luke, Noah's new (eventual) love interest up after the jump. Enjoy!
  • Marie Osmond a possibility as Rosie's replacement? Gah! Say it isn't so! That's like replacing Don Imus with Don Knotts! (Not that Rosie is anything like Imus, mind you.)
  • Isaiah Washington thanked Katherine Heigl for calling him out at the "Golden Globes". Kinda odd, but hey -- like she says, "This is something that will have changed the scope of his life."
  • Are wingers really this clueless over transgender issues? This complaint about Shrek sure makes them like dolts.
  • Tammy Faye Baker may not be doing well in her fight against cancer, but she sure is a classy lady

So what did you think of Noah?

    Marie vs. Don Knotts

Nor is Marie anything like Don Knotts!

    Marie

I don't know anything about her personal views (although I can imagine I wouldn't agree with them), but she was very funny and intelligent during her judging stint on Celebrity Duets.

... uh, kind of hard considering Don Knotts died over a year ago.

Ohmigod... Is Marie Osmond Holding a Bedazzler?

Replacing Don Imus with Don Knotts would have been great! (that is, if Don Knotts were still alive, as kcholt68 points out).  Knotts was hilarious, while Imus' homophobia was disgusting.  Who wouldn't want to tune in to Barney Fife?  Heck, let's replace all the talk-radio blowhards with folks from Mayberry-- the world would be a better place.  Replace Rush with Gomer, Ann Coulter with Aunt Bea, and Opie and Anthony with... well, Opie and Andy.

They better not be doing the

They better not be doing the whole straight cum bi-curious or whatever with Noah. He was soo drooling over the girl you wouldn't think at all that he is going to be Luke's future boyfriend.

Just remember for there to be a good story, there has to be

a beginning, and conflict, and Noah has to make a journey. My sources make me feel comfortable that they will handle right, but like a soap opera nonetheless.

    The Shop Around The Corner

As somebody pointed out over at youtube, it's possible that the Luke/Noah relationship will mirror the plot in The Shop Around The Corner, the movie referenced in the episode--Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan are co-workers who can't stand each other but are secretly in love with each other--yes, a plotline that has been used many, many, many times, but it works, so why not?

    Yay!

It is a Bedazzler!  Great choice for a picture, Michael.  Consider us all Bedazzled! (Someone get that man a denim jacket with his name on the back in rhinestones, pronto!)

    I Liked Noah

Beyond being cute as a button, he seems like a likeable guy.  They alluded to some problems in his life that will probably become important later on.  I didn't think he was drooling over Maddie, they were just bonding.  I have female friends that I have that kind of banter with.  And there was some chemistry there... if you didn't know he was going to be matched with Luke, you'd think he was for Maddie (and that's clearly what the writers are doing).    It does look like the show is going for a love/hate relationship with Noah/Luke.  And if Michael seems to feel that the show is going to handle the plot well then that gives me some comfort.  This is the first time a soap has done a gay love story that's on the front lines and if the the show does a good job and it's fairly well recieved maybe other soaps will follow suit.

    Agreed

My reaction was that Noah and Maddie are going to become great friends, just as how Luke and Maddie are currently good friends... at some point Luke and Noah will have some stupid fight and she'll be able to knock some sense into both of 'em.

Now if only Luke and Noah were fighting over a plane seat instead, as his grandmother once did with a certain snarky fellow...
