Exclusive! Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka not toasting arrival of a new baby just yet!

Earlier today we reported that Star magazine (such a bastion of reliability!) was claiming that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were busy planning for a little bundle of joy. According to Star:

After going through a rigorous screening process, “Neil and David were so relieved and excited once they were approved,” says the source. “Now they have so many surrogate profiles to go through to find the right woman to carry their child.

Not so fast says Harris' reps. Via a spokesperson Harris and Burtka released this statement to AfterElton.com:

If Star says it, then it must be true! No, we are not currently expecting a baby. Maybe someday...

Frankly, we're not surprised as Harris has so much left to do before getting to that point. Hosting the Emmys. Winning an Emmy. Hosting the Oscars. Winning an Oscar. Becoming ruler of All Known Universe.

After all of that, he'll have time for a baby!

However, may I point out how clever the wording of their statement is? All they are saying is that are not expecting a baby at the very moment. No word about looking for a surrogate mother. ;) But honestly, if anyone announces an offspring to the Harris/Burtka family, it should be Neil & David themselves anyway!

I was so thrilled when I heard the news this morning, but I am not surprised by the outcome. Neil is pretty busy right now. David may or may not stil be in the culinary school. Plus, they are pretty quiet in their personal lives. I wouldn't expect to hear from them until there is actually a baby in Neil's arms. And they don't want the paparazzi to harrass their surrogate, like Sarah Jessica Parker's surrogate. We will see if any babies pop up next summer. Who knows. I will just keep wishing them the best.
