Sneak Peek at Adam Lambert's "Time for Miracles" From the "2012" Soundtrack

Check out a brief sample of Adam Lambert's "Time for Miracles" track from the upcoming soundtrack for 2012. It definitely sounds like our boy, but I have to say I'm a little puzzled/troubled by such a blatantly "commercial" move. Aren't power ballads for Hollywood blockbusters something an artist traditionally does later in their career when they are either trying to cash in, prove they are still relevant or both?

But who am I to judge? Adam has been absolutely brilliant so far and I'm sure he knows exactly what he's doing!

Hmmm...

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing

Watch you smile while you are sleeping

While you're far away and dreaming....

However...an hour with a box of animal crackers and Adam laying shirtless will make up for this cheesy song.

A boy's gotta pay the bills?

Ugh.

Adam, I love ya, baby, and will go anywhere you go as a singer. But don't let's pretend that this art. Do this for the studio or your agent or your accountant or whoever. And then do something good for yourself.

Also, why do natural disasters seem only to target iconic works architecture? Silly, natural disasters -- there's a whole lot of other important but unrecognizable structures to destroy!

I think it's pretty good

Can't wait to listen the whole thing. He is taking too long to release the first single of his album, this song might help me wait.

"troubled by such a blatantly "commercial" move"

Adam's got the AI world anticipating his album, but what about the substantial world outside that bubble? 2012 may not be the greatest disaster movie ever, but it has a ton of money dedicated to promoting it.  Adam gets a music video and a soundtrack and press associated with the movie entirely unrelated to his album (which will only sell better because more people will hear of him).

The way I see it, this is a brilliant move.  You can't buy this kind of publicity!

Edit: By the way, I really like the song so far.  I was a bit worried that I wouldn't because I've been in anticipation of his album which he's said is going to be pop/electro/funk/nods-to-classic-rock/etc, but this fits the movie soundtrack. And his voice is predictably awesome on it.  Can't really complain.

OMG

Some of you guys are so bitchy!

First, how can it be a theme song for a huge movie and NOT be a huge song?

Second, it is a great song and probably will outlive all of us.

Third, what in pluperfect hell were some of you expecting? Did you think Adam would come out with a Rage Against The Machine special? I don't think he ever even hinted he was that kind of singer. This song shows you what he is and always was; a dramatic singer.

Get over  yourselves, children.

your hostility is both hilarious and completely unnecessary

I would like to point out the bitchiest comment thus far on this post has been yours.

From what I have heard so far, I quite enjoy the song. But even as a fan, there is "need" for me to like everything he doe. The presumptuous one is you, stuffing words and beliefs into people's mouths.

The short of it: think before you talk; you're making the rest of us look bad.

Adam's New Song

When I first heard that he was doing a song to 2012 I though Oh hell no! After listening to the clip it's now Oh Hell YEAH!.

I think it actually was a brilliant marketing move,,,, movie song, new album. It's a win/win situation. Even if the movie is a bust, the song will give it an extra push with Adam's song. I was already going to see it just because I love the special effects I've seen, but not the acting/story. I have a feeling that it's going to be the modern day Towering Inferno.

Eh

I love the voice as always but I cant stand the video. I am so sick and tired of popular media playing into todays obsession with the end of the world, on TV; the history channel, science channel, made-for-tv films, and in theaters again and again. I honestly cant wait for 2012 when a bunch of fanatics, cult members, and just plain crazy idiots kill themselves off in fear of the world being destroyed, like they did in 2000. Even though Adam is great, he doesnt save this over-done garbage (and its not like he's in the movie anyway so thats okay.) The song is good enough only when its not associated with the film, when its played together its awful, the lyrics mesh right into the christian view of some unknown "Miracle" coming to save people during the worlds end. Thats probably the biggest thing turning me off to this now that I think about it, even though its not what the song itself is about, you know exactly what hardcore christians are thinking of when they hear the word "miracle" over and over while watching pictures of everyone dying by storms and things like meteors of fire and brimstone raining from the sky (which, apparently from the video, they even included in this movie!) argh >=/

I love Adam the glam-rocker and thats who I voted for each time. Thats also the kind of music I was hoping to hear but instead its a feel-good ballad about love and "miracles" played in association with the destruction of the world. It still doesnt change my opinion of him though, I'm rooting and waiting in anticipation for his new album, THATS the real stuff and what I'll spend my money on.

AMAZING ADAM!

This sample gave me chills!  I love the ROCKER ADAM and this is going to give it to me... I will buy his album and the 2012 album.

I have to say I agree with OMG... some of the comments here are bitchy and smack of jealousy.  Why do so many gay men like to kick other gay men when they are happy or doing well?

this isn't rocket science

I find myself puzzled by the micro-analysis of the movie "2012" and Adam's role in singing the power ballad theme song that will be associated with it. Was there this amount of scrutiny and hand-wringing from Aerosmith fans when it was announced they would sing "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", the theme song for Armageddon?

Adam was asked to sing the song - should he have turned down the opportunity, Michael, because he hasn't sufficiently established himself in some folks' eyes? The film producers wanted someone with not only the vocal talent to sing the song but with the level of buzz to help them promote the movie. Judging by Adam's astounding level of pre-orders for his debut album and the number of views of the 2012 teaser with the song clip (vs teasers without the song clip), I'd say the producers made the right choice.

As for criticism of the movie subject matter, it's a summer popcorn disaster flick folks. Of course religious fundamentalists will try to use it for their own purposes but then, again, they found ways to interpret Star Wars from a religous perspective as well. Regarding the propensity of disaster movies to destroy iconic structures - it's done because it's fun to see famous landmarks get destroyed. Part of the fun of "Independence Day" was seeing structures like the White House and Empire State Building being blown up. There was lots of destruction in Cloverfield but most memorable was the scene with the head of the Statue of Liberty crashing into the city.

I have zero interest in

I have zero interest in seeing this movie, but I'm sure the song will be everywhere -- and that's the point, isn't it? Adam Lambert isn't going to be taken seriously by releasing introspective songs recorded in his bedroom on a 4-Track and waiting for a good review in Rolling Stone. If he's going to do it, he's got to come out of the box screaming -- and this will do that. But don't go by me -- I couldn't get the stupid theme song to "Blades of Glory" out of my head for days!

I cannot wait for this movie.

It's gonna be total crap...but totally awesome crap.

Michael, I usually think you're smart

but can you srsly not understand why he wanted to sing this song for this movie? The first song he ever release is for a huge, international movie! The movie will open at the same date all around the world, people will hear his voice and maybe love the song - what is bad about that?? He'll get his name out there!

I love the song and can't wait to hear the whole thing.

And if people have heard about him then they'll be interested to listen to more Adam - his album is coming out later in November. Those songs will not be anything like this song, Adam has said that. Those are two separete projects, ok? His first real single off his album will probably be more dance/pop.

I agree. It's a very cunning strategy.

And for a power/rock ballad designed for a cheesy disaster movie the song actually pretty great.

Love the song and I'll watch the movie

I love the song. I don't care what anyone else says, I've been listening to it the last few days, and I think it's good.

I also agree that it's a brilliant marketing move. A song for a blockbuster movie, and an album coming soon with his first single released in a month's time. This is good marketing both for Adam, to be associated with a huge multimillion dollar movie and for the movie, to be associated with a song Adam did, with his excellent vocals and all the buzz surrounding him.

Not many people have heard of Adam here in Norway, but many have heard of this movie. I think it can help Adam gain even more fans when they hear his song. I'll definitely see the movie, it might suck, and it probably will, but I love disaster movies. LOVE them! The Day After Tomorrow is one of my all time fave movies, and I can't wait to see 2012. It looks so over the top and juicy, just the way I want disaster movies to be! lol.

Well Christina Aguilera, Reflection, Mulan. So it`s not that uncommon for new artist to do so.

I think he's very talenetd and wonderfully creative.  I look forward to the release of his CD.  Who knows, maybe his next project will be a song for the next Bond movie.

Artist?

Sorry but i don't understand some coments. Adam was a AI contestand, it's obvious he wants a commercial success, and during the show he perform at least a couple of power ballads.

This is a classic blockbuster song, obviously it won't be everybody's taste, but i don't think nothing wrong.

By the way, Time for miracles won't be Adam's first single, and his album is doing really well on Amazon

Movie Themes Have Staying Power

I've never seen the Titanic movie or watched a Celine Dion concert but I can sing the entire theme song "My Heart Will Go On" simply because the movie made the song so ubiquitous.

Famous singers sing theme songs to movies all the time.  Annie Lenox, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, tons of boys too (I'm sure others can name them but "Highway to the Danger Zone" is blocking my thoughts right now.

All the Bond movies, every movie from the 1980s and 1990's that wasn't scored by the Star Wars guy seemed to have a famous person singing the theme song regardless of genre (but particularly the action movies).

I'm confused about all the criticism.  It's not Adam's song, he didn't write it, it's not part of his album, he simply sang the frak out of it as he was hired to do. Of course he has to find meaning in it and relate to it to sing it with conviction.

As far as he's concerned, I think he should be proud to have been asked and should be proud of how well he sang it and hopefully he'll get tons of publicity and some royalties from it.

Seems like a win, win to me.

International success

This is a perfect move to get him known across borders. He might already be a household name in the US, but here in Germany (and in many other countries), no one has ever heard of him. This flick will be seen by millions though, and it will gain him a new, world-wide audience within a very short time. Clever boy!

Love him, neutral on the song, HATE HATE HATE the movie trailer

Adam is a phenomenal talent, and this song looks like a terrific vehicle for him.  Yes, it's completely ripped off from "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," but it suits his voice to a T.

Having said that, it's not really a GREAT song--it's very much in the middle-of-the-road power ballad vein.  It doesn't even hint at what he can do vocally, compared to some of his "A.I." peformances (like the balls-to-the-wall KISS number, the cover of "Mad World," the love-it-or-hate-it "Ring of Fire" with Middle Eastern influences).  However, should this score an Oscar nomination, it'd be a helluvva kick seeing him perform on the show.

However, not to diss Mia or RJ, but I'm with EW's Mark Harris, who wrote a blistering editorial about how offensive and stupid this movie is (and coming from a gay filmmaker no less, who's already destroyed the world twice in "Independence Day" and "Day After Tomorrow").  I am really sick and tired of seeing the world be destroyed as entertainment, and I really hate how cavalier and manipulative the filmmakers are that they keep shovelling this crap at us--"Oh look!  Here's a destroyer hitting the White House!  Here's a bunch of buildings collapsing, sending millions of people to their deaths!  Look at the World Trade Center rip-off with the falling buildings! Don't think about people suffering, just root for John Cusack's family and the dog!"  I don't usually object to mindless, stupid entertainment, and I've seen my share of big empty blockbusters (though I drew the line at "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe").  But I don't remember disaster movies from the 70's actually trying to get people to ROOT for destruction and devastation like the garbage today.  Maybe it's the post-9/11 world we're living in, but this sort of thing really turns my stomach.

I hope Adam continues to have the brilliant career he deserves, but I also hope this movie tanks like crazy.  Still, mouth-breathers made "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" and "The Hangover" hits, so I'm not hopeful.
