AfterElton Briefs: The Divine Miss M hits 100, Bradley Cooper is on the "A-Team", "La Cage" returns and more!

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • La Cage aux Folles is set for a return to Broadway in March 2010. The show is in good hands as it's being produced by Sonia Friedman who snagged a Tony award on Sunday night for the revival of The Norman Conquests. Looks like the play is in good hands, but might I suggest she bring John Barrowman over once he's done with his stint as Albin in the West End production of La Cage currently running in London.

  • Here is one dance studio you can safely never expect to see Nigel Lythgoe patronizing.
  • Bette Midler's Las Vegas show hit a milestone when the ribald songstress marked her 100th performance at Caesar's Palace Colosseum. To celebrate the occasion, Miss M chatted with a reporter and shared that she's all for gay marriage and recently met President Obama.
  • Adam Lambert stayed cool as a 20/20 producer told him he could be as "flamboyant" as he wanted in a 20/20 promo. He might as well have said, "Dance, Monkey! Dance!"

  • Adult film star John Boham was convicted of murdering a Denver businessman. Boham tried to claim it was suicide staged as murder to get the life insurance policy money. Yeah, that sounds likely.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

this guy! (via MadeinBrazil)

WTF

How dare that 20/20 producer guy ask that of my Glambert? Would he tell an African-american to be as "black" as he wanted when making a promo. I oughta sock 'im in the mouth! He shouldn't even be allowed to be infront of such fabulousness!

Outsports didn't "notice" the Nebraska wrestler story. ESPN contacted us about it.

So When Did Being Gay Become The Same As Flamboyant

I don't feel the same offense as you, and I am black.  For many folk being a gay man is about living and loving the men in your life, without shame or hiding.  Whether the expression of one's personality is on the nerdy side, the masculine side, the flamboyant side, and there are a few other sides I could name - really is not the same as being gay.  There are and have been plenty of straight and gay men who are nerdy, masculine, flamboyant, middle of the road, artistic, and plenty of other adjectives.  Being flamboyant is no more an indicator of gayness than is being tall.  While some folk like to create stereotypes of what they think gay men should act like, for example the uncoming movie Bruno - a very flamboyant character, that is no more representative of gay folk than say the character Maude as representative of all women.  Of course there is always the pressure to fit in, in a variety of social settings - to repress yourself when that could be the last thing your personality wants - so there's a reaction - to let yourself be yourself.  But being yourself can mean lots of things, besides or including flamboyant. Flamboyant is a characteristic of a particular person, not of the whole gay group.
