Neil Patrick Harris in the new issue of Rolling Stone
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
Stevie Wonder and Cyndi Lauper have joined the roster of this Thursday's VH-1 Divas Live show.
Two years ago retired NBA star Tim Hardaway infamously ranted "I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States." Since then he's been trying to make amends to the gay community, and the news that he's sponsoring an event for The Trevor Project is a good step forward.
boingboing.net has an interview with John Marcotte, the man who's filed the most awesome voter initiative ever!
The season premiere of ABC's Ugly Betty isn't until October 9th (damn!), so to whet your whistle we recommend the Mode After Darkwebisodes. Above you can see When Marc Met Mandy
Yesterday we told you about Elton John's desire to adopt. Unfortunately, the Ukraine government has decided that he's too old and gay to proceed.
Matt Damon dropped by the David Letterman Show and offered up a possible explanation as to how the bizarre incident involving George Clooney and a gay man who wanted to strip for him might have come to pass.
I'm a little confused on the tim hardaway situation. after he made that rant, the article says when the outrage happened, he apologized and wanted to make amends. that doesn't mean he is suddenly all loving towards gays
nevermind. re-read it. good for him. wonder what the story is behind him wanting to get involved with the trevor project. me thinks he may of read/heard of something very tragic and did some intense soul searching.
Sorry, I met him in Miami when I was running a home theater store, and dude's seriously not what I personally call a good hearted soul. To me, it's just reputation polishing. All is not forgiven.
A jerk's money will buy just as much resources for Trevor Project as a saint's.
I don't know why he'd care what gay folks think of him but you can't change the past but you can write a check and help a worthy organization like Trevor Project to continue to do the incredible work it does.
If every super rich man who spewed anti-gay garbage decided to make amends by writing a check to a worthy gay organization or put their influence behind a worthy gay cause I'd be okay with that.
We don't need homophobes to like us or even be nice people, we just need them to stop oppressing us and get the hell out of our way. If they can leave some cash behind that's good too.
If he's sorry then I say "Hell yeah, put your money where your mouth is!"
I don't know when you were in Miami. (i assume this was before his rant....or not?)
I do think what he said was horrible, and his apology was bull.
BUT...this happened over two years ago. if the article is correct, it seems like he, himself decided to do this. i really doubt if someone hated gay people as much as he did, they would get involved in an organization that prevents gay teens from killing themselves.
also...why wait two years? if he really wanted to do 'reputation polishing', wouldn't he of done it ASAP after the rant?
I don't know, but i truly think this may be sincere. I can accept this more seriously than when someone screws up, there is controversy and they quickly act like they are a new person.
What I want to know is who the heck is Neil Patrick Harris' publicist? I mean, good gravy I know the guy is on a popular show, but he's not even the star of that show! I like NPH as well as anyone, but his face is in more places than Obama's!
NPH is the top draw for watching that series. Since it's an ensemble cast, he'll only ever get considered for supporting actor awards (and I'm sure he wants to keep it that way).
A good publicist and agent can only get you so far. Every time NPH gets on screen or on the cover of a magazine, he delivers the goods. That's why he's in such great demand. The Emmy people came to him after his stellar turn hosting the Tonys.
During the writers' strike, Joss Whedon recruited NPH for his Dr. Horrible web project. Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long blog has since won an Emmy award, due in large part to NPH's performance in the title role. At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last week, NPH declined to go on stage so that Whedon and the rest of the cast would get the audience attention and not him.
Neil isn't getting all this attention just because he's on ''How I Met Your Mother.'' He's hosting the Emmys this Sunday, and given the sagging ratings of awards shows, Neil's promoting the TV awards more than anything else. Rather than producing baldly generic puff pieces about his hosting the Emmys, writers have chosen to use his coming out as an openly gay actor as an angle. Neil's also quotable. Good for him!
Derren Brown's "most awesome stunt in the history of the world" was when he did that zombie-ish writing thing with David Tennant which required a change of outfit. As Derren put it something like "David must lie in a swimming pool for 45mins to enter a trancelike state and it's an excellent excuse to make David wear a skin-tight wetsuit" lmao! I <3 him for saying that :)
I don't like magicy stuff but Derren is so charismatic that I find it interesting and kinda melt, he's so in control and calming and um touchy but not in an odd way with the men and women in his tricks. I don't like him quite as much as David Tennant but having him on the show multiple times and then saying stuff about David in skintight wetsuits and getting him in one and holding his wrist during the writing thing (I think I remember that) is still pretty good :)
Oh Neil looks "awesome" and v. hot in that photo. Just had a weekend of watching HIMYM :) watched the Robin Sparkles episode 'Slap Bet' its my favourite yet I think! Barney is the best and hilarious but I love Robin also, second funniest (or is that Ted?) and she's soo attractive (and Cobie Smulders who plays her has been in The L Word) :). Since Willow is my fave TV character ever (even beating The Doctor) I never thought an Alyson character wouldn't be my fave but tbh I don't really notice her much in HIMYM.. odd..
Does Josh Radnor (Ted) remind anyone else of Jimmy Fallon?

He's still a jerk

Well, actually NPH *is* the star of HIMYM
