"The Amazing Race 15" features team of out gay brothers

I don't know what it is about CBS' The Amazing Race, but other than Project Runway, I can't think of another reality show that gives us as many interesting gay contestants as does TAR. Last season it was Mike and Mel White, as well as Luke Adams who was deaf and gay and competed with his mother Margie.

The network just announced the new line-up for the season debuting September 27th and it includes Sam and Dan McMillen, two brothers who only recently came out to each other. As you can see from the above pic, the duo are not only cute, but young and fit, something that bodes well for them to go far in the show.

So add The Amazing Race to your list of Must Watch Gay TV! And kudos to the show for continuing to present all sorts of gay relationships and pairings on the show.

Update: Just found this introductory video of Sam and Dan discussing their relationship and strategy for the game.

Here is some more info about the brothers from the CBS site.

Brothers for 21 years, Sam and Dan will tell you that their relationship did not truly start until last summer when they both came out and told each other that they were gay.

Growing up Christian in a conservative community, neither one of them felt comfortable enough coming out at an early age but after doing so, they've found a whole new bond with one another and instantly became closer through honesty and trust.  Sam and Dan will tell you that being gay is only one of the many aspects of their lives.

Dan describes himself as organized, open-minded and spontaneous and hopes to gain a new sense of appreciation for his life from running the Race with his brother.  His hobbies include exercise, volunteering and traveling.

Sam claims to be optimistic and happy-go-lucky and his hobbies include cinema, logic games and anything involving the outdoors.  Communication may be the biggest challenge for this Team, as they claim to be polar opposites.  From academic interests to how they approach tasks, these brothers are very different in everything they do.  Due to his passive mentality, Sam will need to be more vocal to overcome Dan's blunt, assertive personality in order to contribute to the team while on the road.

Sam is pursuing a degree in medicine while Dan has one more year left at William Jewell College to complete his business degree.  When asked what former Team they would model their style of play after, Sam points to Nick and Starr because they maintained a positive attitude which carried them to the $1 million prize. Dan identifies with the competitive style of Rob and Amber.  Both brothers hope that the Race will take their new found closeness to the next level and help them forge an even stronger bond.

Double your pleasure

I hope we get to hear about the backstory growing up as closeted brothers in a conservative home.  This a very interesting aspect of being gay that many straight people have never seen.  First a gay father-son team, and now gay brothers.  TAR is giving new meaning to the phrase family values.

Plus they are super easy on the eyes.  Yum!

Oops, it was Sam and Dan, not Dean!

That would've been too coincidental!

Yes

Yes, it would have, but I had a big laugh about it.

I love the Amazing Race

And I love that they are very LGBT-Friendly. I loved that we didn't get any details about Luke sexuality on the show  (or LaKisha sexuality, who is lesbian).

Also, did you know that The Amazing Race Latin America is going to feature a team of boyfriends from Colombia?

This is one of the reasons why

The Amazing Race always wins the emmy for best reality competition. They show real people!.

I hope they could made it trought the final three!

I am surpised that they are gay brothers!

It made me wonder about their parents' reactions to their sons??

I think I love these guys already...

Hope that doesn't jinx them, even though I know the race has already been completed and is just waiting to be aired.

They seem like really cool guys. I'm actually kind of surprised the producers cast a team of young alpha male college guys again. I guess the "gay brothers" thing was too interesting to pass up.

Yeah Dan!

Dan was my lab partner last semester in Science of Forensics. No joke. Such a sweet guy. Go Dan and Sam!
Morgan's picture

I dunno...

While I am glad these guys are going to be on 'Race', the younger taller one has "villain" written all over him from that interview. He's "very OCD" he admits and has kind of a cocky voice/demeanor. Both guys are talking about their schemes to fool everyone. Hope these two represent something positive on the show. Fingers crossed.

Yes but .....

why do expect reality show gay contestants to be less than normal? Wait - maybe they could be so virtuous that they lose in the first lap then we will know that the younger brother is an evil gay. You want them to be poster children for "gayness"?
Morgan's picture

Sure I want them to go far.

What's wrong with wanting to have these guys be normal? I was just expressing my fear that they seem kind of shady, and CBS might edit the show to make them this years "villains" if they have too many blow ups or lie too much. If they are the villains, I'm sure this site will be all abuzz about how disgraceful it is.

Two brothers, too cute

I wasn't planning on watching "Amazing Race" this season, but now I am after seeing these guys. Go "Brothers McMillen"!

It's interesting that

It's interesting that everybody is like "two gay brothers"?  My brother is gay and so am I.  My best friend of over 30 years is gay and so is his brother.  Plus, my best friend's partner is gay (duh) and so is his TWIN brother!  Plus, those twins had an older brother (sadly deceased) who was also gay.

I guess this whole gay brother thing is the norm to me!!!

But, sadly to say, none of the above are as hot as these gay brothers!!! LOL

Fun deception...?

Not sure how I feel about that.

On the whole, they seem like a good pair of guys. I find it particularlyrefreshing that gay Christians are being represented in the media (Lord knows that's rare). I could very well be making the effort to watch TAR.

I can't guarantee your life will be perfect, but I can guarantee it will be miserable if you don't live it on your own terms. Be your damn self.Pigs should not be the subject matter of insults. They're cute AND pink.
