Eurovision, Mission Impossible with John Barrowman, Regenesis and more

Michael Hinman over at SyFyPortal.com speculates that a good replacement for Tom Cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise might be John Barrowman. Hmm, I'd rather see John as Bond, but what the heck. The best part is that Hinman doesnt' even make mention of Barrowman's sexuality.

AE reader Francois tipped me off to a Canadian series called Regenesis which looks like a cross between CSI and House. Greg Bryk plays Weston Field, a HIV positive character, but I'm not certain if he is gay or not. In the show's second season, they did a rather provocative episode where they discover the "gay" gene. After the jump is a clip from the ep and here is a picture of Bryk.

Anyone who saw it have any commentary on how the show handled such a hot topic?

Earlier we blogged about England's entry for the Eurovision contest. Here is France's entry and while it isn't nearly as gay as Scooch's Flying the Flag (for you), it is quite fey.

I know Ethan Mordden's work from his Buddy books, but he's also a very accomplished chronicler of Broadway musicals. Mordden has a new book out about Broadway called All That Glittered: The Golden Age of Broadway. He writes about it in Sunday's New York Times, sharing his thoughts on why the Golden Age is over, but the best line in the article was when he said theater is about, "...sophisticated gay people helping the heteros understand they're stupid and boring." Ha.

Blades of Glory held on to the top spot at the box office, pulling in $23 million, more than double Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse.

Fall Out Boy had to push back the launch of their upcoming tour for "personal reasons". Hopefully, they don't have anything to do with Pete Wentz's enjoyment of snogging the occasional fellow.
