"Forbidden Love" video clip update: All we need is love
Today's Forbidden Love again comes to us courtesy of The Gays of Daytime as well as Nanna who does the actual subtitles. In this installment, Christian tries to come out to his brother who seems unable to grasp what his brother is telling. Even when he comes right out and says it.
Christian later tells Olli how frustrated he is that his brother doesn't believe him and that he's tired of not being able to tell the truth. Surprisingly, Olli tells Christian not to fret so much and that sometimes a little secrecy isn't a bad thing. Furthermore, Olli reminds Christian that they don't need anyone else's approval. All they need is each other. Awww....
It's nice to see the guys continue to deal with the ramifications of their burgeoning relationship. It'll be interesting to see how Christian handles coming to terms with the fact that he's less than 100% heterosexual. It will also be interesting to see what the show does with their storyline.

Being a soap there obviously needs to be conflict of some sort to drive the storyline forward whether it be a crazy, homophobic father, an unaccepting parent or sibling or something else. Some readers have noted in the comments that some other recent European soaps have had male characters fall in love with men, only to eventually end up with women. Obviously that happens in real life, but given how few gay characters exist on television (even on European shows) it's something gay viewers find frustrating. It's impossible to know what Forbidden Love has planned for Ollian, but I certainly hope neither man decides he's not gay after all. I'd rather see something else come between them and on a soap (or most any other drama) that's usually another potential love interest. But if a show only has two gay characters, then that dynamic becomes more difficult -- hence falling in love with a woman, going back into the closet or something else unsatisfactory. In James Hillis' recent examination of why there are so few gay characters on U.S. television, one of the things touched on was what happens when there is only one gay character on a show. Basically it means there is little for them do and makes it much more likely they will eventually disappear. When there are so few potential storylines available to gay characters beyond the best friend or the office secretary, then the character is much less interesting to write. That's why those exceptions out there -- Six Feet Under, Brothers & Sisters -- stand out so profoundly. Even though it's only a soap, I hope Forbidden Love has good things in store for Ollian. Good things, bad things..
That's my fear. Here there are just starting their relationship and opening up to the world around them, but I can't not thinking about how it will all evolve and end.. Yeah.. sad, but it will. Question is, what will happen until then and how long will Chrolli be allowed to exist? VL had a gay-storyline 6 years ago and it ended 'well' - the couple left the show as an item.
Anyway, right now I am very curious about how they will handle Gregor.. Today the boxing and outing scene was disappointing. How 'blind/deaf' can Gregor be?! That wasn't handled too well, I thought. I'm wondering how Christian will next attempt to out himself in front of his brother. I mean more than "I'm gay" he can't say, or can he? Does Christian have to make out with Olli, for Gregor to believe him? That's not how I wish the moment to be, when Christian tells his brother.

I meant Christian making out with Olli in front of Gregor. That's actually exactly what I don't want! I think they have shown us how much Christian and Gregor are supportive of each other. They are not only brothers but also good friends. I would hate it and I think Gregor would be hurt, if he had to find out by surprising his brother kissing Olli. I don't want Gregor to find out through someone else either. It would be nice to see that Christian finally gets Gregor's attention - preferably not in a boxing club - just the two of them, and Christian telling his brother. That's how I would prefer this moment to happen. No freaking out from Gregor. Maybe some surprise, but not really, because I think Gregor knows alread deep down. He has to! I mean it's so obvious!
Anyway, I want Christian's coming out to his brother, be as smooth, elegant and decent as possible. Just like the whole story so far.

...Michael, one of the two doesn't have to decide: The character of Olli is written as bisexual. Sure, he's a Kinsey 5, but the makers of Forbidden Love like to reinforce that fact, so they couldn't be accused of backpaddling like ALL THAT MATTERS ;-)

Gregor doesn't want to see what's right in front of him.
I can't believe we have to wait 10 days before the next episode. That's just criminal.
Anyway...I think Gregor knows in the back of his mind that his brother is gay. All the signs are there, even Christian now outing himself. Gregor just doesn't want to believe what's in clear view. Look how he's going overboard and acting almost slut like in trying to set him and Christian up with women, even though Christian basically shouted to his face he's not interest in any women. To me, it looks like Gregor has to find Olli and Christian in bed together, overhear some conversation with them confessing their love for each orther, or maybe hearing it from a second party, the roomate, although, she has already given her word not to say anything. Then again, it could come as Olli state...the right words at the right time.
Wow..and that last line when Olli said..."all we need is us" I damn near melted. It reminded me of when I was dating my husband, who was suppose to choose from several women for his arranged marriage, but we eloped together. He risked the loss of family, friends and being disowned. But we didn't care, because all we needed was us. And many years later we're just kicking along beautifully. So I do believe Olli...has long has they have each other that can make it.
I think it will hurt Christian greatly if his brother cannot or will not accept him for who he is. He so want's his brother's approval
And I don't think this particular love story is going to end in disaster, but will continue for some time. And when it does conclude, I feel it will be on a positive note. Who knows, maybe Olli and Christian will end up riding off together for a long loving relationship. The truth is, we really just don't know, hell maybe even the writers don't know at this point. Right now, i'm just loving watching this storyline unfold. Another stella episode today.
VL: Coming out is hard to do
I wouldn't be too worried about Christian's failed coming out just yet. To me it looks like they're going to be working on Gregor's storyline here as well. His marriage just went into the toilet and his estranged wife lost their baby. So Gregor's overly-hearty skirt chasing is likely a cover for emotional issues that'll be playing into his piece. That's why Christian had that line about "f***ing away the frustrations of your failed marriage" which resulted in Gregor abruptly fleeing to the locker room.
Granted, he could have saved time by just telling Gregor that he's schtupping Olli rather than try and get into a discussion about sexual orientation. That would have also served to end the debate about going out cruising for girls: "I'm sorry Gregor, but I'm spent. Olli wants it every time we're in the same room together. He's like a mechanical bull! I ride him and ride him and he still never tires out!"
The breakfast scene was cute, especially the coffee in the sugar bowl. But what was really great was Christian telling Judith: "I'd rather tell the whole world how happy I am with Olli."
That was just too romantic. And, unlike Nuke, it's believable because we've seen Christian with Olli acting like he's very happy to be with him.
So Many Great Scenes
I was LOL at that breakfast scene too when Olli was smiling at Christian, who couldn't keep his cool about coming out to Gregor as Christian poured coffee into the sugar container.
Christian's confession to Judith that lying was making him feel sick and how he wanted to essentially shout out to the world about his newfound happiness with Olli was all sorts of awesome.
And yes, the last lines Olli uttered are what romance is all about.
ATWT, get a clue!
On another note, has that particular question been settled already, i.e., the rider and the ridee in the Ollian relationship?

Ollian smoothing the stupidity of Nuke
I am so glad that this incredible gay love story of Ollian has emerged to help smooth the torture of no longer watching the stupidity of ATWT's Nuke. It's really a shame that one has to go overseas to watch the classiness and authenticity of watching two gay men fall in love with such believability. It also doesn't hurt that they are both gorgeous! lol... The joy of watching the intensity that the actors that portray Ollie and Christian have makes this that much more enjoyable to watch. As stated by other members, the chemistry is electric in all their scenes. I fear that Nuke is done for with the current Ameera crap to the point that it can't be saved.
With the exposure that the web offers the world, I foresee Forbidden Love with this wonderful Ollian love story far surpassing the dull, castrated Nuke story that ATWT has so badly damaged in popularity. I myself can't wait for each episode featuring these two incredible actors. I have no idea what has happened to John Paul and Kieron on Hollyoaks. It seems that storyline has all but disappeared per the YouTube episodes.

I have to wonder, do they not follow any message boards or something? It seems like rage against this lame storyline has spread across the Internet. At some point you'd have to take notice. Unless they're contentedly clutching their GLAAD award in blissful self-satisfaction.
Any chance we can yank that thing back and ship it to Germany?

Olli and Christian were all over each other today! Which, of course, would be natural for two young men in love with each other. Contrasted to Nuke, who are the very picture of Victorian propriety.

i was ranting about equality for gays on tv to a friend (who wasnt even really listening to me) and the moment i said "they even have better tv gays in germany!" my friend looked at me and said "Liz, i already know that. They're germans."

Yes, I saw the Chrolli thing when I was reading de VB Forums, made me laugh. I like Ollian better.
