Forbidden Love clip update: Olli and Christian and...Gregor
Here is yesterday's clip from Forbidden Love, and if Olli and Christian spend too much more time involved in Gregor's very promiscuous personal life, I'm going to start referring to them as Grollian. It's great to see Gregor involved in his brother's life, but it's not so much fun seeing Olli floating around in the background without much to do. Well, there is a cute little air kiss when Olli first arrives at the bar. There were a couple of other nice touches in the episode, including a conversation where Gregor acknowledged Olli's bisexuality in a way that wasn't a put down.
I also think it's interesting to see how Gregor is basically a slut, but since he's a straight guy that, of course, isn't an issue. I have to say, if it were Christian or Olli hopping from guy to guy the way Gregor is doing with women, I'd be less than thrilled. I'm also curious about the fellow on the left who tells Gregor he isn't interested in the hot woman Gregor is eyeing. Do I smell a future plot complication coming down the road for Ollian?
Actually, AfterElton.com reader Wolfi tells me that's Sebastian, he's a friend of Gregor's and is straight. Then again, so was Christian until recently! Enjoy the clip after the jump. As always, thanks to Nanna for subtitles and GaysofDaytime for the clip! Submitted by on Wed, 2008-04-30 14:58. |

What a great
gay porn movie these guys would make! I'd pay big euros for it!
The guy who plays Gregor...
...now he's the guy who shoulda played Brian in QAF! Really sexy, charismatic and a totally charming user.

VL Music
VL Music
I read once that they tape the episodes first and then, right before they air months later, add whatever music is hot at the moment.
The show's main audience are the 12-29 year olds anyway and the teens want good music...

Even though there wasn't
Even though there wasn't much Olli and Christian today, it was just nice to have them on screen together.
Christian seems so happy now that he is in a relationship with Olli. He's smiling a lot more and seems to believe he can do something with his life. Olli really does bring out the best in Christian.
I just love this couple and their storyline, and it's all down to Jo and Thore who seem to have that something special which has clicked with the ordience.
Ollian are what Nuke should be
They really are a great couple with amazing chemistry, which is frankly why I've become so down on Nuke since discovering VL.
Thore and Jo do an amazing job putting nuance into their acting. I know that a lot of people gushed over Van and Jake for their portrayals of Luke and Noah. But really they can't even come close to the interplay that Thore and Jo pull off. Thore in particular is really good at using facial expressions to convey what Christian is feeling at any given moment.
As for the treatment in the story, I agree that it's wonderful the way that their relationship seems to have such a positive effect on both of them, Christian in particular. Despite his coming out issues, he seems to have a lot more sense of self-confidence otherwise. Olli thinks he's special and he wants to live up to that.
I also like that they're seen in other contexts besides their own. It makes them much more a part of the larger story and consequently makes their interactions with other characters more meaningful. Christian is settling into a relationship at the same time that his brother's marriage has failed and he is becoming an angry misogynist. Their brotherly dynamic in that storyline will help the story when the big reveal finally happens.
Plus, it's nice the way that even though they're not public Christian and Olli are subtly flirtatious towards each other in public. It's just nice to see two young men in love in a world seemingly free of Iraqi plot devices/sharks.
i definitely agree
Ollian: You light up my life...
Yes, Christian's reaction to Olli's arrival and air punches was one of utter happiness. Olli lifted him right out of the mire of Gregor drama and into a happier place simply by showing up to play.
They really are just too cute together.
Extra Points for the Shirt
Thore, who plays Christian, gets extra points for making an orange shirt look hot - anyone who can pull off that color deserves extra points. :P On a more serious note, I agree about the nuanced acting, perhaps not having to self-censor themselves the actors on FL feel more free to actually act their parts because they don't feel someone's looking over their shoulder with Orwellian intentions. It is rather creepy to consider how few gay characters and storylines show up in mass media in the USA, a nation where over half the population lives in areas covered by laws banning discrimination based on sexual orientation, and 20% of states recognize same-sex couples to one degree or another (the other 80% recognize same-sex couples, just in a negative way in as much as they intentionally deprive gay couples of fundamental human rights and access to the heart of democracy, equal protection under law). ABC had that special on reactions to public kissing by gay couples, so perhaps the American gay community could just organize semi-annual kissing days when everyone is encouraged to go kiss someplace public and someplace new to get more hetero-Americans used to it; the media coverage would get more gay representation on television - bungee jumping kissing couples, climbing the highest mountain in the USA kissing couples, etc. I think I'll start Kissing Day, since allies could kiss too to show solidarity.
Kissing Day
I'm straight (well, 95%-ish I guess), but I'd sign up for same sex public snogging if it would bring more attention to the bias we Americans tend to have about Straight PDA vs. Gay PDA. Seriously? Calling the cops? Egads.
This really is a great idea.
Christian & His orange shirt.
Yes, he looks awesome in the orange shirt.
And in the brown shirt.
And in the purple shirt.
And just in boxers.
\I didn't have to think really hard about who would top my Hot 100 list for AE. :-)

The Gays Of Daytime
Psionycx...I am so with
Psionycx...I am so with you regarding Luke and Noah in comparision to Olli and Christian. In all honesty, I had to bite my tongue for a while regarding how poor I actually thought the Luke and Noah storyline was written and acted. And just coming off the conclusion of the John Paul/Craig storyline didn't help matters. I didn't want to say much since such immense praise was being given to the storyline at the time. Granted, it started off well enough, but the minute those two kisses took place, it was all down hill from there. Now, the Luke and Noah story really is exposed for it's poor quality and absurd storylines. And the those three simple kisses and lack of intimacy between Luke and Noah in the last seven months gives the whole thing a kind of tragic comedy feel to it.
With the actors Thore and Jo, they make you believe in their storyline. They give off the great illusion that they're actually a couple in love, and the audience care that they 'make it' together. They are just such a nice couple.
I agree, those simple little gestures they both do brings so much realism to the relationship...the stroking of the hair, the great eye contact, standing so close to each other in 'nolimits' even a blind man could sense there is something more than buddies going on between them. We see the sweet smiles and spring in his step from Christian, who hasn't appeared this happy in some time, even when he was with Coco, he didn't have this sense of 'lightness' about him. Even Olli, whose heart was aching for Christian for so long, but now has his man and hasn't been able to wipe that smile off his face since the now beautiful and touching April 4th Olli and Christian 'Hallmark' moment.
Thore does do a brilliant job visually with expressing how he is feeling at any given moment. I think one of Thore's best acting moments came during the whole club scene when Olli was dancing with that other guy. He was brilliant at portraying jealousy. I've seen that exact type of behavior acted out for real in others. I just love jealous Christian, because Thore plays it so real.
