Forbidden Love video clip update: Same-sex kisses definitely not forbidden!
Forbidden Love's Christian and Olli might not be appearing a whole lot more than Nuke on As the World Turns at the moment, but boy they sure are making the most of their time! Gay viewers used to American television's handling of gay storylines can't help but be impressed -- and jealous -- of how Forbidden Love is handling their gay storyline. Even ABC' Brothers & Sisters, which has been quite good, hasn't been quite this forthright in the way they've handled Kevin's interactions with his boyfriends. I think that part I like best about Forbidden Love is that it isn't just about the fact they've had sex and the steamy shower shots (which are great, granted) but show the guys being romantic as well. I especially like the scene below where Olli has his head on Christian's lap and then they kiss. I think that's an image more American's could stand to see.
More pics and the clip itself after the jump. As always thanks to The Gays of Daytime for the English subtitles!

The Gays Of Daytime
Damn fine!
Just wanted to say that I think that Gregor (Andreas Jancke) is damn sexy too! I love the way he walks!
Usually I notice hands and voices of people. Never thought someone could be sexy just by the way they walk. But then of course, there was Aidan Gillen from QAF - UK ...
FORBIDDEN LOVE ROCKS!!
GZSZ???
I was rereading gay of daytime's blog, does anyone know the gay storyline from gzsz (Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten/Good Times Bad Times) ? There was a clip on youtube but it doesn't exist anymore :o(
I can't stress this enough...
but this show is absolutely fantastic...brilliant...superb....HOT!! The writing, the acting, the great production values, the very realistic storylines and depiction of gay men, our ongoing challenges/struggles and the VERY REAL (and TRUE) depiction of our sex/love lives. I can go on and on but I think you all get the jist and agree with what I'm saying. I've said this before and I'll say it again....me thinks me needs to get me gay butt over to Germany STAT/ASAP!! LOL This show makes me even prouder to be gay. A HUGE THANK YOU to AE, The Gays Of Daytime, and the person(s) involved with the translation of each episode...an added bonus. Long live Ollian in all their wonderful gay hotness!! This should shake the haunting image of NUKE on ATWT jumping up and down on a bed like a couple of 4 year olds out of my mind. I mean really...wtf was that? Ugh. P&G/ATWT/CBS are looking reeeeally stupid right now! Peace everybody :)

I love the romance as well, but I also love another thing
Michael, I agree with you about the utter romance of the Oliver and Christian pairing, but I also love the normalcy of it.
Jo and Thore do these little things (the ear caressing, the little glances before they kiss each other and the teasing) to express the normalcy of Oliver and Christian's affection and love towards each other. It's not just all about the boys kissing that has gotten everyone interested in their storyline.
I just really love the development of the couple. It's well thought out and it doesn't try to not show and express the same sort of things that any couple (gay or straight) might go through on a soap opera.
I love the normalcy of it.
Yep, you're absolutely right. That
Hahhaah - Rose Colored Glasses On
Michael,
I try not to think about the future twist and turns. I'm in the blissful here and now. ;-)
I think everyone has that fear, because it is a soap opera and it's bound to happen, but at least for THIS COUPLE, they're able to go through the lovely and romantic "honeymoon period", before they eventually end up in "divorce court".
One Thing's For Sure...
Based on what I've seen from VL, we won't see Christian's brother shoot Olli as Olli tumbles down a not-so-steep hill resulting in Olli's paralysis, which would necessitate Christian nursing Olli back to health with Olli regaining the ability to walk within two months' time during which there will be no displays of affection whatsoever between the characters.
Meanwhile, in Jokedale, the previews indicate that there will be a Nomeera kiss this week. When was the last time Luke's lips touched Noah's? That's right: it was back on September 26, 2007.
More Ollian please!!!
But we'll always have YouTube!
I agree with RJ
The whole point of VL being great is that it developed the romance fully. Inevitably, conflict will occur to disrupt the blissful here and now of Olli and Christian. I just enjoy the fact that we can relish in the development of this couple's relationship. Umm, yes, more shirtless kissing please.
Oh Michael...tsk tsk
did you have to go there? Let's not dwell in the future and enjoy the present ok? Peace :)

i totally agree back then....
Jo Weil's interview..
I don't know about the makers, but the actors know about their YouTube success (I'm sure the makers do too!). Jo Weil said in an interview, when asked what he thinks about the worldwide video-clips' success on YouTube (in German and subtitled) that 'Of course, it was a great feeling! That he was totally amazed by how well the story was accepted / appreciated by fans'. He said they receive fan-mail now from all over the world and that this is the best feedback they can imagine getting for the the work they do. He also said that it made him proud, that this storyline helped people admit their own story and needs.
I thought the interview had been mentioned on AE before, no? Anyway, here is the link again:

WOWSERS
VL: Better writing, better acting
I can't stress enough that the really wonderful thing about this storyline is the quality of the writing and the acting, especially as compared to ATWT.
Rather than rely on trite soap opera standards, they've put out a much more realistic relationship where the main hurdles are individual hangup's rather than campy plot devices (psychotic parents, temporary paralysis, Muslim mystery girls...). Jo and Thore, the actors that play Olli and Christian have been doing an amazing job injecting little bits of casual intimacy that make Ollian seem like a real young couple in love.
Contrast this to Nuke's almost self-congratulatory dramatic PDA ("Hey! Everyone! Look, I've got my arm around him! Yeah! Isn't it great! Where's our GLAAD award?").
I'm hoping they won't be any rush to break up Ollian. Although this is Olli's second VL same-sex romance so he's still way ahead of Luke.
I swear, the writers at P&G need to be strapped into chairs with their eyelids pried open like in Clockwork Orange and forced to watch these clips until they submit!
Forbidden Love: TV Without Censorship
This show is great! Thanks so much to the subtitle-writers who enable us to watch and enjoy these clips. The storyline is romantic, hot and doesn't make your head hurt with nonsensical plot twists and inane dialogue. How refreshing to see what TV can be in a free society!
I'm definitely hooked and look forward to more episodes.
No denying, it's a beautiful unfolding love story
"Jo and Thore do these little things (the ear caressing, the little glances before they kiss each other and the teasing) to express the normalcy of Oliver and Christian's affection and love towards each other. It's not just all about the boys kissing that has gotten everyone interested in their storyline."
dkellergrl2001...I think this is one of the main reasons so many have become devoted to this storyline. It's not just about the kisses, but about how real their love seems. They seem so comfortable with each other. There is such a natural and real progression to their relationship. And it's so well filmed, with the camera capturing those small natural moments, such as the squeeze of an hand or stroke of the hair. And that amazing eye and body connection these two actors portray is just striking. And yes, their kisses are awesome. Olli and Christian just make a beautiful couple.
This really is one of the best ongoing love stories, gay or straight, i've seen on TV. Much thanks to AfterElton for highlighting the show, and a huge thank you to nanna for the English translation.
Oh My G Lord!!!!!
i can't believe...
i can not at all understand how 99 readers of AE is not interested in this show (based on the poll in best.gay.week.ever).... WTF?!?! how can you not love this show??!?!?! okay... love is a strong word.... but i can't believe that that many gay men or straight allies disagree... i am not a fan of soap operas..... i don't even follow ATWT (though you must live in mars if you do not know what's hapenning)... but Christian and Olli?!?!? c'mon people.... how can you not fall in love with these two adorable characters (and the excellent actors that play them)?!?!? everybody loves a good love story and this one is very well written and not too overly dramatic... okay okay.. so i'm worshipping the show.. so sue me....
there is another show that's equally intriguing (though not as "swooning" as VL) and that's 'les blues" from france.... finally watched the english translation on you tube... check them out too... (thanks to ztube31)

Good Lordy!
It´s a fun show but let´s be realistic...
I find the high praise VL is receiving here kind of amusing considering that it is fast-produced, fast-forgotten fastfood tv. That doesn´t mean that I don´t like or enjoy it. There are many things to like about it.
One of the first things that attracted me to it was their use of music which is not the typical generic radio pop but a rather interesting mix of artists including Eels, Radiohead and Editors.
Then there is the fact that both the writers and actors seem to really enjoy camping it up. Especially the female characters get the chance to be superbitches and divas. This show would be even more funny if it would air later in the day and you could get intoxicated watching it without feeling guilty. I noticed that there is not much humor involved when it comes to Olli and Christian and I hope that will change.
And last but not least they get their gay storylines mostly right. There has been a gay male couple before, maybe 6 or 7 years ago and while they had their ups and downs neither of the characters suddenly turned straight again and when they left the show they left as a couple. One of the female leads for the last few years is a lesbian and they didn´t de-sex her or treat her any worse than the straight characters. Of course a big portion of her storyline in the last few years was getting pregnant like all tv-lesbians must do.
Anyways, like I said this show is fun and entertaining in a campy ridiculous way but to call it "fantastic" and "brilliant" or to praise the "quality of the acting and the writing" seems pretty unrealistic to me. Yeah, it looks like the people involved in making the show enjoy it and try to make the most out of it but it´s still fastfood. Easy to swallow and tasty for the moment but not a perfect dinner by any chance.
And there is still a part of me that wishes they would introduce a gay character that I too can find hot and not just the typical soap prettyboys...
yeah, but...
....after sitting through the depiction of a gay couple on ATWT, it feels like you're sneaking out of a screening room that shows I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK & LARRY and walk in on BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. and the bad thing is, that's neither van hansis or jake silbermann's fault, it's just that PGP and CBS had great motivation and then dropped the ball because of a few crazies who objected.
i think it's very refreshing to see that ollian is not about their circle of friends and family 'having' to adjust to the fact that they are a gay couple - they're just a couple that 'looks really cute together', as their roommate notes. the only show on US TV that is currently airing which comes CLOSE is BROTHERS & SISTERS, and though by a far stretch that's my favorite show on tv, kevin and scotty feel more like BFFs than boyfriends when you compare them to christian and olli.
i think a lot of that had to do with the carefree attitude in germany - i think none of the writers or the actors have in mind 'boy, who could we offend with this?' or 'how can we portray it in a way that the AFA won't threaten to boycott, but the gays will still talk about it?" (that germany doesn't have an equivalent to AFA might help here).

The Gays Of Daytime
Since VL is a soap, we can
fastfood?
we have to remember that this is a sopa opera... yes, this is fastfood tv.... but due to the americas state of gay visibility, i really don't find any readers here that praises the show amusing or absurd... VL is brilliant in portraying gays in the tube... okay so it isn't schindler's list... or verdi's la traviata.... but should olli and christian be gays persecuted in nazi germany in the 40's this time wearing pink triangles instead of being jewish (ref. from oscars best picture foreing language films)?!?!? you can never compare a hamburger with a filet mignon... okay enough with food.... you can never compare a sopa opera with a critically acclaimed film or a good opera or any theater for that matter but that doesn't mean that we cannot acclaim such form of entertainment. specially when we know for a fact that soaps are usually over the top and "campy" and yet here we have such a "real" and well written storyline that doesn't camp and even went so far as treat gays in a normal light - having the same complications, same problems, as hetero counterparts... what's not to love or praise?!?!
i would also like to add and note that the topics discussed here is the Christian and Olli storyline... and praises for VL are about that specific storyline only. since a lot of people here don't speak german and nana only translate ollian's part of the VL... so whatever happens around Ollian's world is foreign to us (so to speak)... so i really don't give a F*&% what happens to the other characters nor can i critique them....
Little things..
Funny you say that Markie :o) German is my mother tongue, though I live in Belgium. I can watch VL here. I am not a fan of soaps but I tape the episodes of VL every day. I only have time in the evening to watch it. What I do is I forward anything that hasn't Olli and Christian and I delete every episode without Olli and Christian in it. I haven't got a clue about any of the other stories. I don't even know the character's names, except for those who are directly involved in the Olli and Christian's storyline.. *lol*
I think the actors are fantastic. I especially like Thore Schölermann. It's true that it is the little things (ear carressing, smiles and glancess) that make it quite real. The chemistry between the two actors is amazing!
Pilot to Co-Pilot....
