So much for respect for the dead or a modicum of decency. Think Progress has the audio of Fox radio's John Gibson mocking Heath Ledger's death and making all sorts of suppositions about what killed him. He plays clips from Brokeback Mountain where Ennis worries about dying and then wonders if Heath just lost money in the stock market. Classy fellow, no?

Fire this guy immediately
Gibson's comments make "nappy headed hos" look like Sunday school talk. It is time to get Gibson FIRED immediately. Who are his sponsors and who is his boss? They all need to hear from all of us NOW.
Boycott
Hey Any One Want Fox's Email Address
Since FOX seems to be so brave and allowing the pompous idiot on the radio lets see how brave they are with viewers emailing him. Looks like him and Bill O'Rielly belong in the bathroom stall together.

Fox/Gibson comments
I really cant belive this
I really cant belive this guy!!! Some people dont deserve to be called human beings. To be so politicized that he cant muster some respect for human suffering. No amount of disagreement to someones views or actions justifies this behavior. The sad thing is I am not surprised.
Just left a big piece of my mind on those email adresses. I doubt this message will get to him, but based on his past actions I honestly think he will not care. The fact that he did this on air is proof of that. Regardless, I urge you to do the same.
ok, this is just so messed up.......
*WHO* let him get away with such a gross, insulting 'joke'? i know it's fox, but come on!
sick ass bastard. *goes to let off steam somewhere else*
A shout-out to MSNBC!
Dan Abrams on tonight's ''Live With Dan Abrams'' show on MSNBC took time to blast the far-right religious nuts who are linking the tragic death of Heath Ledger to his Oscar-nominated portrayal of a gay cowboy in ''Brokeback Mountain,'' as if this is God's payback. They also plan to picket Ledger's funeral. Abrams also admonished John Gibson's mocking of Ledger's death, and its tastelessness.

To thank Abrams for his commentary, E-mail him at abrams@msnbc.com
Abrams' colleague, Keith Olbermann, called Gibson ''the worst person in the world.''

I imagine you can also E-mail Olbermann at olbermann@msnbc.com & offer thanks.
The Worst Person In The World
Predictably, Gibson won top 'honours' in MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's Worst Person In the World countdown. Pretty impressive to beat out such Worst Person Hall of Famers like Bill O'Reilly and Ann Coulter.

Heh, WW beat me to the punch!
Great minds think alike! ;)
Glad I wasn't the only one to notice, RJ!
We need to thank the people in the media who stick up for us and against anti-gay bigotry. There aren't enough of them, so let's give them some love. ... By the way, Abrams ended his show with a segment about E-mails from his readers. And one female viewer was debating with her husband about whether Abrams was ''hot.'' With tongue in cheek, he playfully asked if that meant that his hubby found him ''a little hot,'' too. Well, if you've seen a picture of the good-looking Abrams, the answer's obvious. ;)
Mocking of Heath's Death
Some people have no sense of decency.
Shame on him.
One thing that has bothered me in regards to the TV reporting of Heath's death is how the phrase "found naked" is used repeatedly - over and over again. He died in his bedroom. Many people sleep nude. If he had died with green shorts would the reporters stress that as a fact? I think not.

Tis pity he is a bore
Shamefully, John Gibson is close friends with a friend of mine and I have met met him on numerous occassions. We never have discussed his show, and my friends are accepting of my sexuality, however I would never dream of coming out to him. Not that I am ashamed of my lifestyle, but because he is such a nut job. He is close minded, opinionated and uncaring. He gets off on being the guy you hate.
Unreal
God, just unreal. So sad.
Makes me thankfull that Canadian regulators have kept Fox News off our televisions.
WW and RJ, thanks for posting about Olbermann and Abrams. Good to see that some people are standing up to this crap. Restores some of my faith in people.
I cant believe people can
I cant believe people can be so nasty to a dead man.
No words.
Stunned
Not at all surprised
Not at all surprised. Found it amazing that Wednesday evening on CNN, the infotainment reporters kept blaming bloggers for all the rumours being circulated... and they repeated that claim every chance they could. Interesting, seeing as most of the speculation around this tragic event came from the media first. And the entire bunch at faux snooze should be lined up and shot. Oh, and those freaks from Kansas... they have been attacking blogs who do not moderate their comments and leaving some truly disgusting crap in the comments. I spotted one on a friend's blog that he was not aware of and dropped him a quick note so he could delete it. All the usual crap from that bunch of freaks.
Somedays I really wonder.
And while all this crap is going on over broadcast media, printed media, and online media, there is a family and friends who are trying to grieve in private the loss that they have just suffered. The media and other vultures seem to forget this. And while the media hypotwits blame bloggers for the misinformation out there (nothing like forgetting to check to see if someone crapped in your own nest first), it has been the bloggers who have written some of the classiest items I have seen so far.
And Keith Olbermann is a class act too.
As for the rest of the broadcast and print media who are having multiple orgasms in masturbatory boardroom meetings about the ratings they can milk out of this during the writer's strike... they just disgust me thoroughly on so many levels. I'm surprised some lower-than-a-snail's-balls executive hasn't offered money for the autopsy photos.
Okay, going back to my corner to mumble to myself.
He's always been this way
Don't know the guy
or his views, and after seeing this I don't care to. Like Campion I am glad Canada does not get Fox News. News is supposed to be objective, not the sounding board for people who would have been considered bigoted and inappropriate 50 years ago.
Thankfully the family is in Australia where hopefully they are more respectful of people's right to grieve in privacy than the North America media is. The media here cares far more about Neilsen ratings then it does about human beings. It did not used to be that way, it almost makes me nostalgic for the 1950's when journalists knew when to keep their mouths shut.
Cheers

What a weenie!

"The Mountain has wings"
If this is the best Fox can do, I say bring it on! Nobody will even remember this fool's name in five years. Heath will endure, on screen and in our hearts.
NOT SPURPRISED AT ALL AT FOXS RIGHT WING
Mocking someone who was
Mocking someone who was possibly suffering from depression and maybe took his life because of it, could anyone sink much lower.
This doesn't surprise me,
This doesn't surprise me, the man is disgusting. The guy is a right winged nut job who is full of hate towards gay people. He has a history of these type of comments towards gays, it's only now he's really being called on them.
It didn't even take a day before he was ready to mock the passing of Heath Ledger, a man who has done nothing to Gibson to deserve this type of a response. I'm pleased that his remarks have made TV and now GLAAD has gotten involved. It's about time Gibson was called on the hate in his heart and filth that comes out of his mouth. And the guy shouldn't even be on TV with a mug like that.
Fox News in Canada
Sorry to disappoint those who made comments about Fox News not being available on Canadian TV, but it's been available for at least a year, probably more, on Digital TV on Rogers Cable (mainly in the province of Ontario and maybe some in the Maritimes). It's very likely available in other provinces and from other companies as well.
It goes without saying that I never watch it.
I stand corrected. Have
I stand corrected.
Have never seen it as an option in any of various channel packages I have seen.
I was under the impression that they (Fox---or was it the cable companies themselves??) had applied, but had been turned down by the CRTC
Not sure I get it or
not, I haven't gone looking for it though. I now get BBC World News which puts American news to shame. You actually don't get anything about Britney Spears which is nice, and the BBC is much more objective than CNN or the major networks. Fox news is beyond the pale, it might as well be part of the Republican party's PR department.
Cheers

You are not kidding. Fox
