- Judge Judy is joined by TV's first out gay judge as Florida's David Young gets his own show. The show's website doesn't hide the fact Young is gay as it mentions he has a partner of twelve years and is known for occasionally bursting into showtunes while in court. What? That's unusual?
- Looks like the Founding Fathers suffered gay-baiting, too. That John Adams always did set off my gaydar.
- French tennis player Richard Gasquet is SO NOT GAY!
- A Telemundo host was fired for using the Spanish word for "grouper", which is apparently also Cuban derogatory slang for "gay", although she claims she wasn't aware of the meaning. Some gay groups have come to her defense. Side note: compared to "grouper", "fairy" almost sounds like a compliment.
- Nerve.com talks with former escort Mike Jones about his new book about Ted Haggard.
- The Advocate (and soon Out) now comes to subscribers wrapping-free, if they so choose. We're here, we're queer, we love magazines!
- People Magazine reports Lance Bass has a new boyfriend. He's an underwear model and Televisionista has the pictures to prove it.

lance and pedro...........
pedro is sure a damn good looking fella (go us brazilians)......hopefully he doesn't screw lance over like a certain someone who loves fame more than being faithful and all that...
*stops rant* okay.
How the hell is Lance
How the hell is Lance getting these fit blokes? I mean he himself isn't one of the best specimens of Male Hunkyness himself, like Reichen and this dude is. I want to be famous! It's obviously the only way Lance is able to pull guys that are way above his league.
Lol. Me, Bitchy? Don't talk utter rubbish, dear.
I ain't saying he's a gold digger...
Gay News
There are a lot of judges on TV, one for every demographic. It was almost a given that a gay judge would come along. Congrats to him.
The article about gay people in colonial America was short and with little information. Disappointing since I like reading about gay history.
I haven't watched tennis in several years so I don't have a read on Richard Gasquet. However I think Guillermo Coria and Roger Federer are gay. I don't know about Andre Agassi. There's a lot of things that make me suspect that he is gay. When near the end of his career he married Steffi Graf and had kids it made me think otherwise.
I'm glad The Advocate is doing away with the extra cover. It's about time. I think they are moving in a better direction as far as having gay people on the cover. Compared to recent years this year they have had more gay people on the cover. I'm very proud of the cover of Eric Alva. It is perfect. Unlike past covers of gay people this one isn't embarrassing in that it is professionally done and looks like it. Out magazine has the same pattern of embarrassing covers of gay people. I'm going to buy this issue of The Advocate.
I'm actually glad Lance did not want to champion gay rights. Last year when he came out he said he wasn't going to be on a pride float etc. It's been less than a year since he broke up with Reichen and he's already had atleast 6 boyfriends (according to reports). That kind of record enforces the stereotype that gay men have many boyfriends/ hookups during their lifetime. I agree with Jason that Lance has had great-looking boyfriends.
Pedro's seems like a really nice guy...
Hater-Aid
Jason what you are doing is what we here in America would call "Playa Hatin" and as someone who's had a few drinks of the hater-aid myself from time to time , I say keep up the good work!
That Pedro guy is pretty cute. There are clips of him oline somewhere interviewing celebrities.
Gay Gasquet?
I like "Reeshard" and I for one would love for him to be gay. But what if he's not? Some of us get snippy when guys deny that they're gay -- sometimes pointing to the denial as evidence that they are gay but are closeted or whatever. Maybe, he's gay, maybe, he's not. I can totally see why he wouldn't want to come out. He's 21 and he just broke into the Top 10 for the first time this year, this month actually; he has somewhat of a legitimate concern of the consequences of coming out. I know of two people who are out in Tennis and that's Navratilova and Mauresmo. I'm sure there are more and there are probably some guys on the tour who are gay but are they out? NO. So if he is gay, it's probably a bit daunting to come out. He's not like Federer or Nadal or even Roddick who have already established themselves in Tennis, and would probably have no problems with coming out.
BUT what I'm more concerned about is not whether or not he's gay but the reports I heard that either James Blake or his fans the J-Block kept calling Gasquet "faggot" during a tournament. Isn't that as, if not more heinous?
I'd love to know if that
No Report but...
It was something I read a few months ago when I was on a Gasquet high. I found it on some tennis forum so the accuracy may be suspect but here's what happened:
I mixed up my players -- it was Ginepri vs. Gasquet at the US Open 2005, and the fans (mostly American) was calling Richard faggot during the match (actually, it seems that;s the fave insult they hurl at the Frenchmen). Not just players even Mardy Fish supposedly joined in. It was a 5 setter and Richard was 2 sets to 1 up and then he just collapsed. Maybe, he just choked but hey, if people branded me with slurs even if it's not true but with just enough hate, I'd totally screw up.
Here's the thread; it's about fan behavuor during matches.
