Meet Ronnie, Make Me A Supermodel's only gay contestant

While I wasn't really expecting Bravo's latest reality competitive show Make Me A Supermodel to have seven out contestants ala the current cycle of Project Runway, I did think with twelve fellows competing for the crown (okay, it's really $100,000 and a contract with New York Model Management) that there would be more than one hunky 'mo strutting down the catwalk. (Oh, and there are twelve women as well, but they're pretty much invisible to me!)

Of course, maybe one of the other guys will come out during the course of the season. That's always good for ratings. But if there is really only one, then yet again we'll have another reality show plenty of opportunity for heterosexual showmances and none for the gays.

Says the Bravo website for the show:

Over a 12-week period, 14 hopefuls will live together in a New York City loft and explore friendships, romance and naked ambition while undergoing a series of creative challenges designed to test their professional modeling potential.

Hmm, something tells me the word "naked" isn't there by accident.

So what do we know about Ronnie, the only contestant that the publicity folks are confirming is out? Well, he's hot, duh. He's also a full-time student at the University of Illinois where he studies Political Science. He works not only as a model but also as an actor, and says he works really hard, is self-motivated, and wants nothing more than world peace. Okay, he didn't really say that last part, but he did say he's most proud of starting a non-profit organization working toward bridging diversity through the arts. Hmm, sounds like Bravo to me. Well, except for the non-profit part.

I'm not sure that MMAS is really going to add anything new to the televsion landscape what with Janice Dickinson, America's Next Top Model and other assorted modeling shows, but it has to be better than America's Most Smartest Model so that's something!

MMAS show debuts on January 10th with a special that whittles the 24 finalists announced today down to the 14 who will compete for the prize. The finalists will be housed together in New York and each week America gets to vote off one contestant. I vote for Elisa. Oh, wait. Wrong show.

Why Can't I Have One for Christmas?

My god. That's Ronnie.

I think Santa's homophobic. Every Christmas I ask for someone as goodlooking as Ronnie and every Christmas - nothing.
