Your Monday Morning "Everything Bagel!"

Enjoy this tasty treat designed help to stall the inevitable soul crushingness that is known as the start of the work week. Savor it because as soon as you're done, it begins...

Marc couldn't shake the feeling that he'd been in such a hurry to get to work,
he'd forgotten something important.

  • The New York Times asks just how much more gay couples pay in expenses since we can't get married. The answer? Up to $500,000. I guess that's reason 874 the Pope is right I shouldn't be gay.
  • New Orleans linebacker Scott Fujita joined Baltimore Ravens' player Brendon Ayanbadejo to become the second NFL player to speak out in favor of gay marriage. Said Fujita:
People could look at this issue without blinders on…the blinders imposed by their church, their parents, their friends or, in our case, their coaches and locker rooms. I wish they would realize that it’s not a religion issue. It’s not a government issue. It’s not even a gay/straight issue or a question of your manhood. It’s a human issue. And until more people see that, we’re stuck arguing with people who don’t have an argument.

All the more reason I'm glad the Saints beat the Jets yesterday! And I really appreciate the editor of the site who posted about Fujita and then kept the commenters in line.

Scott Fujita, totally cool dude!
  • Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says the recent ruling invalidating Texas's ban on gay marriage is an "apparent constitutional attack." He had nothing to say about the ban on gay marriage being an attack on individual liberties. I guess that's because gay people aren't really individuals in his mind. Meanwhile, one half of the gay couple trying to divorce has spoken out
  • George Takei and hubby Brad Altman are going to appear on an upcoming episode of The Newlywed Game and the show just released some photos.

Brad: You swore if I did this show, I wouldn't look stupid.
George: Oh, be quiet! This stupid hand gesture is what made us rich.

  • Saturday Night Live completely wasted Ryan Reynolds and there wasn't a single gay clip. Well, there was when Madonna faced off with Lady Gaga. I guess that's pretty gay.

  • Just how stupidly homophobic is the Catholic Church? The Archdicoese of Denver refused to let a Hispanic migrants rights group rent out a banquet hall for a luncheon because one of the luncheon's ten sponsors was a gay right's group. The Archdiocese felt doing so could be construed as supporting a group that "advocates for the homosexual lifestyle." El Centro Humanitario said thanks but no thanks and went elsewhere for their luncheon.
  • Out director Roland Emmerich's latest movie 2012 was everywhere on Friday as this five minute clip was shown on every major network. The movie looks absolutely hilarious, but I say that as a huge fan of disaster movies (hey, I saw the original Earthquake in SenSurrond!). I always say if you're going to to destroy the world, then really destroy it.

  • Finally, do you want to see your face at the top of this post? Now you can! In last week's Monday Morning Everything Bagel! AfterElton.com reader Lior suggested we start letting AE readers submit pictures of themselves eating bagels so that every week we have a different reader as our Monday Morning Bagel Boy or Girl.

If you want to be our Bagel Boy or Girl, please email me at editor@afterelton.com with a bagel-themed photo attached and the words Monday Morning Bagel in the subject line. Once you sign and return a release I'll send you, we'll put your pic in the queue to be our Bagel!

There are a couple of restrictions. The picture must be of just you — no strangers in the background, please! You can pose with a friend or loved one, but they must also sign a release — and be eating a bagel. Also, please make sure there aren't any visible products, posters, etc in the background.

Finally, have fun and be creative, but keep it clean. No racy pics of bagels in, um, interesting poses will be accepted. Finally, pictures need to be at least 400 pixels wide and horizontal shots are preferred.

  • And here is your sports pics of the week!

After watching Kurt Hummel kick while dancing to "Single Ladies",
soccer players around the world began kicking to musical numbers.

And now the work week begins! We're sorry...
