Paul Rudd: "I love gay guys."

Paul Rudd seems to be everywhere these days whether it be from hosting Saturday Night Live (and posing naked above) to starring in the bromance I Love You, Man which snagged $18 million at the box office this weekend. The latest Entertainment Weekly features a big write up on the almost forty-year-old star (who has never been bigger) and in it Rudd addresses his gay roles, gay friends and more.
Said Rudd:
I always thought I'd be a really good gay guy. I love American Idol. I watch Antiques Roadshow like crazy. Guys like Oscar Wilde, Stephen Fry, Elton John — they're all very bright, with a razor-sharp wit. David Sedaris — who's funnier than David Sedaris? The Saturday Night Live that I hosted was such a gay-heavy show. But it didn't even cross my mind until after. The family that kept kissing each other — I didn't even think of that as being gay.
I remember doing interviews for The Object of My Affection, and people would say, ''What was it like to kiss a guy?'' Like it was such a shocking thing. I said, ''How many times does anyone ask, 'You had to shoot somebody. Was that weird?''' I love gay guys. I feel pretty gay. I'm certainly not the most macho guy in the room.
Well, I'm not much for American Idol and I've never seen Antiques Roadshow, but I still appreciate his point.
I've liked Rudd ever since he played gay in The Objection of My Affection, but he lost a bit of his burnish in The 40-Year-Old-Virgin with that "You know how I know you're gay?" scene with Seth Rogen.

Yes, it's funny, but I was already sick-to-death of "gay" being synonomous with lame before then. Rudd didn't help his case with Role Models which seemed to treat homophobia awfully lightly. Then there was that odd SNL he hosted which had a wide variety of gay related sketches with some better than others.
But I'm still inclined to like Rudd as he certainly doesn't feel the need to distance from gay roles or seeming gay. Plus he's kissed a few guys and isn't willing to look ridiculous showing a little skin.
But what's your take on Mr. Rudd?
And here are some of those gay-friendly pics of Paul!
