There might not have been much very gay about the pilots so far picked up this week, but there is some good news for fans of Neil Patrick Harris. We just got word that How I Met Your Mother will be back for a second third season. This might not be the freshest sitcom in the world, but Harris shines as the womanizing Barney Stinson
The news isn't so good for those who enjoyed The Class which has been officially dismissed
Larry the Cable Guy's new movie Delta Farcesucks and is loaded with gay jokes? Why I'm just speechless
Somehow the news that a Serbian lesbian (at least she appears to be) topped a Ukrainian drag queen at Eurovision never made our blog. We feel so embarrassed. Oh, wait, you probably never even noticed, did you?
And he certainly wouldn't agree with The View'sElisabeth Hasselbeck on gay marriage
Britain's Hollyoaks has one of the more interesting gay teen storylines I've seen in quite a while. I doubt Luke's (Van Hansis) first relationship on As the World Turns will be quite this tumultuous! Thanks to Jason and Bill for the head's up! (The clip is after the jump!)
And everytime it's on, my friend keeps pointing out all the reasons it'd never be shown in America. Like the fact that John-Paul and his boyfriend kiss almost as much as the straight couples. And the fact that it's on network TV, at half six.
It charts the whole thing from JP's first appearance, but the gay storyline really starts on 26th January, with him admitting his attraction to his best friend. There's then the whole coming out, the fall out, first boyfriend, right up to the current episodes.
Looks like this storyline will run and run though. It's interesting to note how little (none in fact that i've seen) controversy this story has caused in the UK given it's on at 6:30 on one of the mainstream channels.
Did anybody catch the season finale of Reno 911 Sunday? Dangle planned to marry his ex-wife's husband only to have Garcia show up and confess to being gay and in love with his fiancee. Garcia and the fiancee share a very passionate kiss(seriously!)and leave together leaving Dangle and the others to ponder what the hell just happened. The end of the ep said "to be continued..." Hopefully Comedy Central will pick up another season of this show so we can see if Garcia remains gay next season and with Dangle's fiancee.
IMDB doesn't have the title of the season 4 finale episode on their site yet but......the Comedy Central site already has the scenes up on their Reno 911 page. They are separated in about 4 parts but they are not the full scenes. The one to watch is called "Hospital Vows". It cuts off right before Garcia walks in and ruins the wedding by announcing he is in love with Dangle's fiancee. I'm sure the full episode will air again during the week.
... and the gay storyline is very well done and the actors are talented. The triangle (actually a quadrangle) was messy enough and some spoilers I read tell me it's only get more complicated. Apparently it's one of the most popular plotlines on the show. I hope ATWT's gay love story is half as interesting. Apparently though, the writers are very committed to the plot and have a lot planned for Luke and Noah's love story.
Ah, Hollyoaks. It was crap before, but now it's da bomb!
The only thing that spoils it was Evil Craig's 'Faggot' Outburst. Ah, young love. But damn, that guy can act. Tears and everything before he even entered the house. What is so different about this storyline is that it's been pretty much established that Craig is predominantly straight. It just so happens he's falling for John Paul, who happens to be a bloke.
At the part when John Paul says 'Mates don't get jealous of boyfriends' my mom was like 'Unless they're gay...' but it's not as simple as that when it comes to Craig. (Though I couldn't be bothered to explain it to her, I mean I was just happy she hadn't left the room in disgust at this point.)
Anyway, I listened to a little interview with Guy Burnet, who plays Craig, last night. He kinda pissed me off, because he was doing the whole asserting he's 100% Heterosexual thing. 'I like girls!' was he favourite line of response. He even said that it's difficult kissing blokes...but I forgive him because he was thanking the writers immensely for giving him a big storyline like this and saying he doesn't think it's in any way controversial. And it's obvious from just watching the clip that he's very serious about his craft, something which I also picked up from the interview. I also watched clip on the Channel 4 website where he and James Sutton (the guy who plays John Paul) were doing a pretty good job at satirising the whole macho best mates thing. It was quite amusing at one point when they hugged and then they punched their chests afterwards like cave men asserting their masculinity. He even said James had nice lips!
How I Met Your Mother
I'm really liking Hollyoaks right now.
Actually...
