We're back with our second installment of "Torchwood Talk" featuring SyFyPortal.com's Michael Hinman and his very own "companion" Meredith Hogan. In this week's Torchwood episode, Gwen has a very bad day when an alien comes to earth to feed off orgasmic energy. It's not all bad though at least Owen ends up naked! Michael and Meredith dissect the whole thing after the jump!
it isn't the sort of Sci Fi I normally go for. I like Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, shows actually set in outer space. But I am LOVING this becasue of Barrowman and the show's gay friendliness. I've hated for years how Star Trek and espcially BSG leave gay men out so this is great. And this episode was fun because it got Owen naked, not bad at all. The alien storyline was just all right, but I like the humor. I loved how Gwen accidentally cracked the meteor and let it loose. (Your recap was funny when it said that the meteor fell to earth and only got cracked when Gwen hit it with a hammer).
I hope the show gets a little bit more into the sci fi and aliens part. I never watched Doctor Who (I tried, but just didn't get it) so don't know how much that show explores outer space, but I hope this isn't entirely set in Wales.
I LOVED this Torchwood episode! It took me a while to close my mouth after the first "kill" in the nightclub bathroom! And it was hilarious to find that the only reason they discovered that murder was because a guard was "spying" on them via a security camera! LOL!
It was also interesting how the writers played with voyeurism and how sex can be dangerous. And the whole thing about the alien (aka: infected human girl) tracking down her ex to find out if he ever had any true feelings for her was really interesting. It was like her last attempt to grasp control of her humanity before unleashing her sexual rampage!
And what about that one scene where the alien tried to come onto the gay guy! THAT was really funny, too! "Sorry luv, I'm gay!"
I share Merideth's fascination with Ianto. He's really cute and seems like a nice guy, too!
The hook-up count is a good idea, but suspect I may have to see a big poster-sized chart showing running totals of hook-ups! It's the second episode and I can barely keep track already!
Mike: do we ever get to see more of the pterodactyl from the first episode? If not, is it ever explained? Somehow I've become obsessed with it??
I'm glad I started watching this even if
