Twittering with the Stars: Peeing puppies, diseased squids and the fake "realNPH"

Clockwise: Jake Shears, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Christian Siriano, Stephen Fry, Michael Urie

Bored with the usual plebeian twitters of friends and family — DAD: lost job/house today. 4closure unavoidable. Wife left w/plumbr. Son won't return calls. :-( — I thought it time to liven things up and see what the stars our AfterElton.com readers follow are twittering about. After all, anything a star does has to be more glamorous than what we do, right?

For instance, last Thursday Project Runway winner Christian Siriano tweeted:

Um, okay, Christian!

Also on Thursday, Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears tweeted not just about his work day, but his new Kindle.

Then over the weekend he mentioned he'd written a new song that certainly got my attention.

Meanwhile England's Stephen Fry is currently floating about off the coast of Mexico having all sorts of, um, interesting adventures!

I'm not sure which is more odd — the diseased squid or Der-dan der-dan tish?

And actor Shia LaBeouf posed this intriguing question.

Why not find out Shia? It certainly wouldn't be worse than any of your other press lately.

Meanwhile, Ugly Betty's Michael Urie isn't just twittering, he's twitterpic-ing. Here are a couple of shots he's twittered this past week.

Looks like fun, no?

Of course, not every twitter account was actually set up by the person they claim to be. Everyone has been abuzz about the fake Tina Fey twitter account, but it turns out that the therealnph isn't the real Neil Patrick Harris either (I got in touch with him and checked). So who is posting these odd tweets under Neil's name?

And those are some of the less racy ones. Methinks NPH might want to look into this!

I was also curious for some of the details about whic stars has how many followers and how many others they are following.

Michael Urie 397 Following 2,589 Followers 89 Updates
David Blue 291 Following 545 Followers 609 Updates
Christian Siriano 22 Following 6,003 Followers 25 Updates
Stephen Fry 54,340 Following 265,975 Followers 1,874 Updates
Chuck Palahniuk 0 Following 43,794 Followers 14 Updates

Hmm, looks like out author Palahniuk is a bit self-obsessed, no?

Delving further into the information, I discovered Urie is following Soleil Moon Frye, Anderson Cooper, Ryan Seacrest, something called Chihuatude, and Perez Hilton

Meanwhile, actor David Blue (who played Michael Urie's love interest on Ugly Betty) is following Pushing Daisies' Bryan Fuller, director David Lynch, Jimmy Kimmel, and Larry David

Comedian Margaret Cho is a bit of a news junkie following CNN, The New York Post, The Onion, Al Gore and The New York Times.

Wasn't that interesting and enlightening! Now excuse me while I go tweet about writing about tweeting.

Thanks for the heads up on who is on twitter. Also found some other interesting links like to Martha Stewart's page.

Ah Jay...

Love, love, LOVE Jay Brannan.  I've been listening to his LP Goddamned non-stop for the past two days.  It's nice to know even someone as good-looking as him can feel heartbreak.

Thanks for the Twitter suggestion.  I'll look into that.

Translation

If by odd you mean Stephen Fry's joke about the sick squid 'doesn't make sense so it's odd' - it's a matter of linguistics.  The slang for a £1 over here is a quid.  So, here's that sick squid IOU when said aloud sounds like. 'Here's that six quid IOU'.

Ok?

Some people even take it one step further, and when asked how much something costs they answer, 'Poorly fish' = sick squid = £6.

You say tomato, whereas we pronounce it correctly.  Quad Erat Demonstrandum.  (which ain't latin for let's call the whole thing off.  Honest, guv)
