This week's Two Gay Guys is an edition of Passing Judgment where we give our "yay" or "nay" to the new British comedy Death at a Funeral starring Peter Dinklage, Michael Thomas Ford's new novel Changing Tides, and Tim Gunn's new show on Bravo Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.

For those of here in the U.S., it's a three day weekend so the blog won't be updated until Tuesday. But check back then for all the latest!

Adorable Cat
Adorable cat.
The media coverage of the Craig scandal has been terrible. The crime did not fit the coverage.
I will watch Tim Gunn's Guide to Style no matter what.
Oh Brent!
yay Tim Gunn!
Are you ok, though Michael? You seemed a bit... I don't know... different. That's not a euphemism by the way.
That was actually our fifth take and it
had been a long week. Perhaps I was a wee bit stressed out?
you guys do takes? haha.
5 takes can do that to a
5 takes can do that to a man!
Hope things calmed down by now.

aw, cute cat. :-)
i was telling my mom about how the craig scandal is pissing a lot of people off in the gay community, and she was like "why? he said he's not gay. they have nothing to be upset over. and neither do you"
*laughs* i really just had to walk away before i said something i would regret
That said...
Check back next week, and we'll have MANY MANY improvements! Seriously, we're going big-time.

Contrast with Craig media coverage in Canada...
In stark contrast with the U.S., here's an example of media coverage of the Larry Craig scandal in Canada:
Idaho senator quits amid ongoing sex scandal
WASHINGTON - Embattled Republican Sen. Larry Craig resigned his seat Saturday after a weeklong political maelstrom triggered by revelations he was convicted of soliciting sex in an airport bathroom stall.
And this is in the National Post, one of Canada's more conservative newspapers. The word "gay" doesn't even appear till the 11th paragraph and only as part of the Craig quote "I am not gay. I never have been gay."
In the same National Post, there is this article by Joseph Couture (author of the forthcoming book, "PEEK: Inside The Private World Of Public Sex"):
Larry Craig's problem is not unique
Not unlike Sen. Craig, most of the men who are engaging in this type of sexual pursuit do not identify themselves as gay. They are often married or otherwise living a heterosexual identified lifestyle.
The underlying message many people take from both the blatant displays of denial, disgrace and shame from men like Sen. Craig, is that sex between men is inherently bad. This, in turn, leads to more internalized homophobia in men who have these feelings, which leads to more furtive and underground sexual activity just like what they are trying to stamp out in the first place.
Thanks for those article quotes RJ
Loved Death at a Funeral
Went to see Death at a Funeral on Wednesday night after watching your recommendation. Absolutely LOVED it. Charming film and completely agree with your thoughts on the gay contexts.

As a longtime MTF fan, I found it hard to believe that Brent hadn't read his work before. (And I've read most of your books too, Brent.) His collections of essays were rolling-on-the-floor funny, but the novels he's written (Last Summer, Looking For It, and Full Circle) are excellent reading, in my opinion. Now I've got to go find a copy of Changing Tides to buy!
But there are just so many books to read!
