Two Gay Guys Chewing the Fat: The Hot 100 Edition! In this week's vlog post of Two Gay Guys, Brent and I move from poolside to actually into the pool. Hey, it was 110 in Palm Springs! This week we "chew the fat" over the AfterElton.com's first annual Hot 100 List which, incidentally, turned out to be national and international news with the Associated Press writing an article about the whole shebang. (Many of the articles can't get over the fact Tom Cruise didn't get a single vote.)
In other words, all this week hundreds of thousands of folks — gay and straight — have been exposed to the shocking notion that gay men enjoy looking at attractive men — and that there is nothing wrong with being thought of as hot by us. In fact, it's a huge compliment! So, yes, the Hot 100 is fun and hot (as we discuss in the vlog), but I'd like to think it also serves a larger purpose in reminding folks of all sorts that gay sexuality is just like any other sexuality. Plus, the Hot 100 proves once-and-for-all that I'm right about Jake Gyllenhaal and Brent is wrong. Bw-ha-ha! Submitted by on Sat, 2007-07-28 11:09. |

Guys, I'm sure you would
Why I Love Jake...
http://www.veoh.com/videos/v222823394jzmMX
Cillian Murphy, Heath Ledger, Matt Dallas
Guys, It's my duty as an Irishman to let you know that Cillian Murphy's first name is pronounced with a hard C (as in: Killian). His inclusion on the list didn't surprised me: I know his looks are a little 'otherworldly' (ethereal?), but talent is always hot (God, I hate that word. Paris Hilton has sullied it forever.)
I was surprised at the relative lack of models (Jeremy Bloom at 90?!), Ben McKenzie above Gerard Butler, Clive Owen, Matthew Rhys, Kevin Zegers (???? OK, I'll stop before I name the whole bottom half of the list). And where was Austin Nichols? Or Matt Dallas? He is beautiful (although, admittedly he could do with some acting lessons...)
It was nice to see John Barrowman included, though I find David Tennant heaps sexier, but I guess he lacks the requisite profile.
Speaking of profile, David Burtka needs to get his actor together and do some popcorn flick/brainless sitcom while not wearing a shirt, cause he is smokin'. Ditto Michael Arden (Broadway thesp) (I also love Neil Patrick Harris, Go NPH!)
And I say it loud and proud (I'm with Brent on this one): Heath Ledger was robbed!
p.s. "Ryan Phillippe is a good actor" Really?????
It was, um, a test. Yeah! And congratulations!
what i love about jake....
RE: Thomas Kinkade
Thomas Kinkade is a cheesy painter, but in the upcoming movie The Christmas Cottage, he's being played by Jared Padalecki. Yes, really. The Jared Padalecki who is on the TV show Supernatural, made the AfterElton.com Hot 100 list, and looks nothing like Thomas Kinkade.
Thomas Kinkade:
Jared Padalecki:
If the movie version of "Thomas Kinkade" played by Padalecki paints with his shirt off, Kinkade instantly becomes my favorite artist ever.
Padalecki = Kinkade?
am i weird if i don't really
am i weird if i don't really find jake gyllenhaal hot?
sure he was in brokeback and all but i just can't see why he's number 1.
Hey guys, time for some self-promotion
Sure, you mention the other articles talking about AfterElton, but where are the links? Don't be shy, we want to read them too. Its not self-promotion, really ...
Also, I hope you seriously consider making this an annual summer poll. If People can do their "Sexiest Man Alive" every year (shouldn't they wait until the guy from the year before dies before they name another one?), surely AfterElton can do the "Hot 100" every year.

FIX! It was fix I tell ya! Being Editor in Chief of this site, Michael, I'm pretty certain you jigged the votes to be in Jake's favour. Don't deny it! CHEATER! And I know Brent will back me up on this one :D.
I am so hurt! I can't believe you'd impugn my character! I bet
Rupert Graves!
I love him! Have you seen any of the shows for the Channel 4 (in the UK) Gay Seasn (they had a bunch of shows lately for the anniversary of the legalisation of homesexuality (www.channel4.com/gayseason)) and one of the shows had both him and James Wilby in it. With the situation they were in, it must have been a reference.
I love your vlogs!
So very entertaining, and, yes, I'd love to see this become an annual list (maybe my beloved Jérémie Renier will make the list next year).
Oh, by the way, Liz Taylor won the Oscar for BUtterfield 8 because she had to have a tracheotomy to save her life when she came down with pneumonia during initial filming of Cleopatra in London. (Sorry, I'm the biggest Oscar geek of all time!)
For some reason I find this
For some reason I find this so cute. And funny.
But hey, you left Rufus Wainwright out of the top 100! Shame on you! And Ian McKellen. I know he's, what, in his 60s, but I think he looks amazing.
And yes! Rupert Graves! He's fantastic. Not just in Maurice, but also in Different For Girls. A great film about a guy falling in love with his geeky friend from high school, after he's had a sex change. Well. Something like that.
Um, WE didn't leave anyone off. Everyone on
Oh,don't get me wrong, I was
I'd never dare to scold the editor :)
In that case, I'm glad
Jake
I don't get all the hype over him either. He is a nice looking man but he just doesn't do it for me. However, I think it turned out to be quite a great list with a varity of men. Cillian Murphy it was good to see him in the list.
PS: Oh and I think every Two Gay Guys should be done with both of you shirtless.

He certainly seems like a nice guy! I mean, it's hard to fault him for being hyped.
But...yeah.
As for the shirtless thing, be careful what you ask for...
