Van Hansis makes the AfterElton.com Hot 100
Well, the AfterElton.com Flying Monkeys have finished tallying your thousands and thousands of votes in the AfterElton.com Hot 100 and we now know who you think are the hottest 100 men on the planet. But you're still going to have wait until June 2 to find out the results so we can present them in a nice pretty package. However, we thought it would be fun to let you know at least a few of the guys who made the list, so between now and when we officially announce all the names, we're going to reveal one guy who made the list each weekday — though we're not going to tell you just where they placed on the list. Yeah, I know, we're no fun at all. Given all the As the World Turns' coverage over the past year, I thought it only fitting that the first name we're revealing is Van Hansis who plays Luke Snyder on the CBS daytime drama. Van is a newcomer to the list so it will be very interesting to see just how high he places. Anyone want to make any guesses? Submitted by on Tue, 2008-05-20 17:16. |

My guess.. :o)
.. THORE SCHÖLERMANN ..
My guess is he made
The top ten. I don't think newsworthiness can affect the voting as much as a great smile, nice guns, abs of steel, or, the all important butt you can server drinks off.
My guess for number one is Cheyenne Jackson, he is the whole package, and how can you dislike someone with that name.
He'd Better Be in the...
... Top 10, or I'll have lost a severe amount of respect for this board :-)
Those arms? That smile? Please...
i think the outright bias
i think the outright bias and media push towards luke and noahis the only reason he's "famous," and considered "handsome". the blatant push for lukenoah shows the racism within the lgbt community.
luke and noah are being treated as the first gay kiss on daytime. their storyline is being documented on youtube and is followed by a fanatical fan base. however chad and vincent on passions were first. they kissed first. they even had sex! yet the lgbt community paid ZERO attention to chad and vincent because they are black. yet luke and noah, the white characters, get all the praise, glory, and attention from glaad, perez hilton, soap blogs, gay blogs, etc. how racist.
that's typical though since the queer community is extremely racist. for every noah's arc, there are the ff. gay themed shows with only (majority) white characters who did racist things:
will&grace(racistly used "tamale" in an episode referring to a latin character and completely lacked racial diversity despite being set in ny. qaf uk and dante's cove are all/majority white. desperate housewives' gabrielle has a gay friend/stylist/business oartner vern. he is a gay character and racial minority yet he never had an onscreen romance. yet bob and lee, 2 white male gay characters, recently had a committment ceremony on the show! even cartoons like american dad and logo's "happiest couple" cartoon have white gay casts.
queer as folk usa. in season1, the show only portrayed 1 asian gay character and he was a prostitute who could not speak english. in season1, it showed brian kinney in repeated graphic sexual situations with many white males (often more than 1 at the same time) yet did not show him actually kiss his black hookup/sex partner onscreen. it was only implied since the camera panned away from them. the luke/noah fans complain it's homophobic when this is done to luke/noah (like with the misteltoe). will the luke/noah fans agree that what qaf did with brian kinney and his black sex partner as racist????????????
and look at all the magazines: instinct, genre, out, etc. all feature white male cover models majority of the time with no racial representation.
As a Black person, I'm grateful that Vincent and Chad HAVE BEEN
excluded from recognition from any aspect of the media. One of the characters is a gay man, who's also a hermaphrodite, who's had affairs with both his uncle AND his own father, who then ends up pregnant, from either one of the men?! While Chad, throughout his engagement and eventual marriage to his wife, has been having an affair with another man, who turns out to be his nephew?!
You really want those types of characters as representatives of gay men, especially Black gay men?!
Just because those characters are gay, doesn't mean that they should be included in this category. I don't think that all GLBT characters have to be as 'pure as the driven snow', but they should have SOME qualities that could be positive to outweigh the negative.
Racism/racist are such
Racism/racist are such loaded words. I do NOT think they accurately describe the difference in representation, coverage, & interest by the gay community.
BUT I do believe there are racial biases that are the cause of said differences. And such biases explain the lack of people of color on "mainstream" (read: straight) programming as well.
Unfortunately, it seems to take a member of a minority group, whether racial, sexual, whatever, to rise to become decisionmakers for there to be any type of significant representation of that particular group. Just look at Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters.
