Will Young's new album Will Young: The Hits drops November 16th and to get folks talking, Will has released the video for the first single "Hopes and Fears." In a twist worthy of Torchwood's Captain Jack, the video has Will pregnant with a baby.
As to how and why Will got pregnant, well, that isn't explained. Alas, the new video isn't embeddable, but here is a link to the new song, but here are a couple of more pics. Oh, and for those who don't remember, Will is the winner of the U.K.'s first Pop Idol (think American Idol) and he came out back in 2002 before a U.K. tabloid could out him.
So what do you think of Will preggers?

I really like his music
Is this an opportunity for a Spoiler Alert?
Since the video doesn't reveal Will's condition until about half through, the moment wasn't as surprising as I could have been. Maybe, Michael, you could have told us that Will Young has an important health/medical update for us...
Still, when I saw Will and his beautiful belly mid-way through the video, I smiled as widely as I have in days. Will is pure frothy pop star, but he's a sweetheart who has a way with hooky songs. The video's funny and subversive. And I really love that Will doesn't hook up with some hunky doctor who fixes everything -- he's keeping his baby and going it alone.
Hmm, I appreciate the suggestion and if
Adorable
I gotta say, the way the video and song captivated me, I kinda forgot he's not suppose to be able to get pregnant. I was just going along with what an adorable pregnant boy he was and I was like "You go head getting ready for your baby!!!"
Also, what a beautiful silent actor he is. I don't know if he's ever done any acting but he was just lovely to watch all the different emotions and his physicality.
Strange as this sounds, it just seemed natural that he should be pregnant.
Great video, lovely pop song. I'd buy it. I'd listen/watch on repeat.
I agree about the spoiler alert though. It would have been nice to have the surprise since the video makes it a surprise.
Yes, he acted before
True
Will Young's most notable stage performance was in Noel Coward's The Vortex in which he received rave reviews from both the critics and his professional colleagues.
He's said he wants to do some more acting and I'd be surprised if he wasn't given some interesting offers because he's definitely got the talent to carry it off.
I also like Young's videos, precisely because they are so quirky. He's such a grannies', mothers' and aunties' favourite that he could coast quite happily on that fan base. But he doesn't take the easy route. Instead, he produces really weird videos (many with a lovely touch of wit to them) and openly gay love songs. And his dec9idedly hetero core fan base laps them up. It's a lovely thing to behold.
As the father of Will's baby, I think the standfirst might have it enitirely wrong. If rumours are to be believed, then it wouldn't be Captain Jack who'd be the babydaddy, it'd be far more likely to be super sexy werewolf Russell Tovey, who is exceptionally good friends with the singer.
Announcement!
"As the father of Will's baby, I think..."
Congratulations, Darrien! The cat is out of the bag! And as for your spouse, we all knew he had it in him.
"The mountain has wings."
Grace
In Grace (love the song, btw!) he had a love relationship with a horse, now he's pregnant? How come his music videos are always so weird? Still love the guy though, and his music!
Harvey Milk: You gotta give 'em hope.
Will Grace - You and I
Just remembered an old music video where he's actually pretty normal (and looking good). The song is nice too..

Really Cute
Re: Will Young
Well, we tried to interview him and got turned down.
It's not surprising to me
that Will Young hasn't been pushed in the States. He's rather too low key in both image and music, I think, to cross over to the USA. Even in his quirky videos, it's usually the concept that takes centre stage, not really Young himself - he plays his part in his own unassuming, good-natured way.
I don't think one can compare him to Paul Potts or Susan Boyle, both of whom would not have their media profile and success without their "ordinary joe/jane" back story.
wow!
This looks entirely too much like...
this short film.

Law suit? Hehehe.
pregnancy becomes him!
He's positively glowing!
Seriously, he looks lovely here, better than he has in ages.
No, not "distant gay traces" -- it's distingué traces!
Mpreg
I haver to say that I never really liked Will Young. Up untill now, at least. I've gained a newfound respect for the man as of late. Not only did he come out before the tabloids outed him, but he's also totally unashamed of who he is. In fact, he revels in it. I love the way he seems to like pushing the envelope with weird music videos.
Also, kudos to Will for the amazing acting in the vid. His facial expressions and body language is totally adorable. The pic of him on the couch, eating god only knows what, is totally hilarious.
Question: is that a tattoo I spie on his arm?
