Ten reasons to celebrate St. Patrick's day!
Today is going to be filled with parades, beer, and lots o' green. Before we head on out to enjoy the festivities, let's to take a moment to pay tribute to ten Irishmen with whom we'd love to share a Shamrock Shake.
Colin Farrell piqued our interest in movies like Tigerland, Daredevil, and Phone Booth, and somehow survived Alexander unscathed. We fell in love with him in A Home At The End Of The World, and that was cemented when we learned he would be the best man at his brother's gay wedding.
Pierce Brosnan first caught our eye as the suave but shady lead of Remington Steele, then brought that same magnetism to the Bond franchise. He always manages to leave us shaken and stirred. See eight more reasons to celebrate after the break.
From his turn as Oskar Schindler, to his heroics in Rob Roy, Liam Neeson has been one of the most physically imposing presence in films for two decades. What can you say about an actor whose diverse work includes Kinsey and Star Wars, and a movie with Cher?
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is one of the most uninhibited actors of his generation, and shows it in movies like Velvet Goldmine. After a spectacular turn as Elvis, he's now heating up tv in The Tudors
Ronan Keating started in irish boy band Boyzone, and has gone on to a very successful solo career as well as praise for his various charity work.
Ronan may have been inspired by the greatest Irish musician, Bono. When he's not meeting with world leaders and trying to bring about peace, he fronts a little band called U2.
Stuart Townsend has played a vampire and a Night Stalker, and the fact that he gets to go home to the fabulous Charlize Theron makes us extremely jealous.
Aidan Quinn bared all in the movie Reckless, and bared his soul in tv's first movie about AIDS, An Early Frost. He just gets better with age.
Cillian Murphy woke up naked to the world in 28 Days Later, and then proved to be a formidable foe to the caped crusader. it'll be interesting to see where his career takes him.
Daniel Day Lewis has two Oscars, and he may be the greatest actor now working. And he can definitely drink our Shamrock Shake...he can drink it up. (sorry) What Irishmen would you like to spend St. Paddys' day with? Submitted by on Mon, 2008-03-17 13:34. |

My Hotprechaun™
I don't even know if he's actually Irish, but I would of course have to submit my dear As the World Turns Hotprechaun™ for consideration:
i was thinking of mentioning him..
Peter Gallagher...
Not only is he gorgeous, but he's played gay many times... on stage as Guy Bennett in Another Country (the role Rupert Everett played in the film):
... as Paul Sorvino's boyfriend in the film Perfume, and as Kyle Secor's love interest on a Very Special Episode of Homicide: Life on the Street:

So he gets my vote as sexiest Oirishman, for sure.

And for those of us who appreciate mature men
In addition to Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson and Daniel Day Lewis, I'd contribute:
Gabriel Byrne (HBO's In Treatment)
and Kenneth Branagh (Chariots Of Fire, Warm Springs)
Luck of the Irish, my shamrock....
