"Hollyoaks" video clip update: Spike returns ... for gay pirate night?
Fan favorite Spike (Tom Vaughan) has returned (momentarily) to Hollyoaks, and brought a touch of gay to the local pub. Spike was John Paul's first lover, but was dumped when J.P. fell in love with Craig. He hasn't been seen since, but has returned to help Neville with the grand opening of the "Jolly Roger" pub ... by promoting it as "gay night". Needless to say, the people working the pub are a bit surprised (especially Rhys, who's dressed like "sailor in the wild"), but gay night is a big success. We also get another round in the complicated relationship of Russ and bisexual Ravi. Russ is shocked that he's walked into the middle of a temporary gay bar, and is worried that someone might try to plunder his booty. Ravi enjoys teasing him about it, while doing a little cruising of his own. You can see the clip after the break, and I hope they can find some way to keep Spike around. What do you think, Hollyoaks fans ... are you glad to see Spike back, and do you want to see more? Submitted by on Wed, 2008-11-26 12:36. |

SPIKE, SPIKE, HE'S OUR MAN, IF HE CAN'T DO IT NO ONE CAN!
I love Spike.
He's gorgeous and open and sassy and sweet and confident. He's not just gay, he LOVES being gay. And he has a gay dad and step-dad so possible visits?
I love that Hannah (whom I can't stand as far as I could throw her is STILL jealous of Spike) but neither she nor her parents are even remotely homophobic.
I'd loved to see Ravi and Spike play off of each other. Could be very hot. Oh the banter and blend of accents!
I'd also love to see Kris and Spike hanging out and flirting and giving people what for on Kris's radio show.
Now that the old "DOG" is gone, I say bring on the gays at the Jolly Roger.
I hope TPTB at Hollyoaks won't make us wait to long to know whether or not Spike will stick around.

Gay 'Jolly Roger' night at
Gay 'Jolly Roger' night at the Dog pub is throwing up some nice, funny little storylines as various characters try to work out who else might be gay and what 'gay' means in terms of music choices. There's one nice little exchange: 'Graham Norton - well, yes, of course he's gay'. [character shudders] 'What about Will Young?' 'Will Young is gay? But I saw him in Manchester. He wears a suit!'
No doubt it'll all turn nasty and become a storyline about homophobia as is Hollyoaks' wont with gay issues, but at the moment it's displaying some nice light touches. As for Spike, the current arc seems to suggest that we'll be seeing more of him - very probably with Ravi.
Ravi's story won't be with Spike
Ravi is supposedly going to have a love triangle involvin Nancy and Kris.
I don't think this story is about homophobia. They had a few days of laughs over straight characters unknowingly pushing a gay night and being seen as gay, then it will be done.
Yay, I love Spike! I loved
Yay, I love Spike! I loved the odd facial expression on Spike's face when Neville is talking to him outside the pub at the beginning of the clip - it's priceless.
Hope Spike makes a full return for something of his own.
Spike!
This was awesome. I especially liked Rhys being uncomfortable getting hit on by so many guys.
Having Spike return feels so right now that John Paul's gone. He's such a mischievous character but good hearted underneath. I'm definitely writing the producers to keep Tom Vaughn around. Can we say love triangle with Ravi, Russ and Spike? That would be a great way to keep McDean fans watching!
I like Spike
Wish they'd do more w/Spike
