"Hollyoaks" video clip update: Busted!
After months of near-misses, false alarms, and audience impatience (or maybe it was just me), the bi-triangle of Ravi, Kris and Nancy is discovered in this clip from Hollyoaks. But first we get flashbacks, tears, and an always welcome shirtless Russ. Some random thoughts about this episode: 1. I don't know what to make of the character of Kris anymore, but I do know that Gerard McCarthy makes him consistently watchable. 2. Gays Of Our Lives scribe Anthony must have been reading my mind when he wished it had been Russ who was in this triangle. That man is 3. Nancy has a hell of a lot of nerve getting self-righteous with Russ about anything. Okay, now that everyone knows the truth, where do we go from here? I know there are spoilers out there, but I'm going to proceed with only what we've been given. What I hope is that the show truly tries to explore what would happen if three people fell in love with each other, and all of the jealousy, fear, and angst that goes with it, and not just try and shock us for the sake of shocking us. Hollyoaks has given us fully fleshed-out, complicated relationships before, so there is hope. But if none of that happens, then they should at least give us more scenes of shower Russ or that oiled, half-naked cutie. Submitted by on Mon, 2009-03-23 15:19. |

I'm entertained
OK, I'm entertained by this whole thing, so the show's done its job. But these people are just horrible. I mean really disgusting human beings. Granted that's why it's entertaining. But none of them get the high road here. If Nancy tries to be self-righteous, aggreived party, then I'm done giving a damn. I already don't like her for getting snippy about "not knowing if she can be with a guy who likes men." Nobody gets to be right here. But I can't wait to see what happens now. Because the only person without the whole story is Ravi.
On a completely side note - the whole Russ thing. Since he's a side player in all the clips, which side of the sexuality fence does he come down on? He rebuffed Ravi, but was that shock because it was Ravi, because it was a guy, or what? I don't know enough about his character except his entire wardrobe should consist of that towel and nothing else.
Russ
Russ is straight. Or at least it's never been portrayed that he's anything else on the show.
However, Gerard McCarthy (Kris) just did an interview where he said that before they brought Ravi in for the triangle, it was going to be between Nancy, Kris and Russ. Actually, even before THAT idea, it was going to be between Nancy, Kris and Warren (Ravi's boss at the Loft nightclub and resident baddy of Hollyoaks). I must say that both of these ideas sound absurd. And Gerard pretty much said so as well. Warren hardly ever speaks to Kris or Nancy and is also exceedingly heterosexual. And while Russ and Nancy are flatmates/friends, I don't see him crossing the fence to play with Kris. Hollyoaks has already done the "I'm straight but I'm in love with this one guy, but I'm still straight" storyline (with the John Paul and Craig) so bringing in another bisexual man seems to make the most sense.
I will agree, however, that his wardrobe should primarily consist solely of that towel.
me too
I don't think it needs to be answered where russ lies, he is presumably straight, but sexuality has always been a bit fluid on hollyoaks, especially with the ladies.
It has been said that russ was supposed to be the third one in the relationship, but they didn't want to alter russ' character.
I find nancy quite funny, she doesn't feel comfortable with dating a bi guy, but she doesn't realise she's seeing two of them!
I think Ravi might need someone to explain it to him with drawings and stick diagrams, I bet he'll make a totally cute face when he gets it.
aww Krislekins!!!!! sweet
aww Krislekins!!!!! sweet when he's sad, he isn't emotional often, i'd like it if it was Kris and Russ best, that was better acting than most of the time in Hollyoaks from him, and better than Nancy, I swear she wiped away a non-existant tear at one point :p
it seems like both guys are most into Nancy emotionally and love-wise than each other but can't help themselves when they're around each other/for comfort - did it not occure to Kris to mention his Ravi thing and prompt a 3-way r/s? he's the only one who really knows the full picture, he could have done so as a last resort.. i guess not if he really was happy for their coupledom
but snicks, Archie? really? really? euughhh!!! he's pretty detestable imo
