"Clara Sheller": Another tasty (and translated!) French treat
Hot on the heels of Les Bleus, we have another French import of gay interest that's been helpfully translated for us: Clara Sheller. Right off the bat, let's get the obvious out of the way ... yes, it does sound distractingly like Clara Peller, the "Where's the beef?" old lady, but we must try to put this out of our minds and move on. Clara Sheller is described as a cross between Sex and the City and Will & Grace, which may be stretching it a bit, but it does have potential. Melanie Doutey plays Clara, a young, single woman who lives with her gay best friend, Jean-Philippe (yes, another J.P.), played by Frédéric Diefenthal. Everyone assumes they're a romantic couple, though, because J.P. is still in the closet to his family and the people at work. In the first clip, J.P.'s boss wants him to his mentor his son, but J.P. is reluctant, until he meets the son. Afterwards, Clara and J.P. have an awkward dinner at his parents house, who believe the two are in love, and J.P. reveals that he's not quite ready to come out. Like I said, this show definitely has potential, and as we'll see in future clips, things get more complicated very quickly. While J.P. isn't as scintillating a character as Kevin from Les Bleus, he does present another side to urban gay life in Paris, and it should make for a fascinating coming-out story. You can see the first clip after the break. Thanks to AE reader bitchplease for the heads up, and our old friend ZTube31 for more great translations. Submitted by on Fri, 2008-05-23 07:59. |

OK
Before somebody says it....
...this is a series that ran on French TV in 2005 or 2006...but it's new to us American viewers, and I've been enjoying the clips I've seen thus far. Thanks for sharing, Snicks!
Check out my blog: http://radicalsexy.blogspot.com/

i think im hooked already
not les bleus admittedly, but i think it could be fun.
Season 2
Season 2 is being aired in the fall of 2008. It has a complete new cast, though!
Saw season 1 when it aired! I bought season 1 DVD and CD (soundtrack) right when it was available! Loved it!
Why do you think I have Thierry Neuvic as one of my favourite actors in my bio!! ;o) He played gay again in Autopsy (dark coming out drama). One sexy dude!
Oh, I've just realised. You didn't even mention him!! How can you not mention this actor!? ;o) He plays Gilles and is the 3rd person in the 'ménage à trois'!!

We'll get to him when his time comes! ;) I agree, though, he's sexy as hell.

Ok
Sorry
It's in French
Its a recast. Same
Just Perfect...
I was really surprised to see that so many people on the website were hooked on "Les Bleus", which is nothing compared to "Clara Sheller" from my point of view ! I mean this show is so realistic about life in Paris & the characters are smart, funny, complex, & a tad neurotic (what would be life without neurosis, right ?? ^^). "Les Bleus", in comparison, seems, i wouldn't say boring, but kind of colorless.
I wish you had the whole episodes, not only these short videos, to really appreciate the 1st season of the show, composed of 6 episodes of 50 minutes in all. The second season, which we have been waiting for a VERY long time, should air in fall 2008.
ENJOY ¤
Oh wait, isn't this?!
When I watched the tape I was like "Oh, you know this story... Where the hell have you seen it before?" Oh yes, there was this short-lived German series called "Verrückt nach Clara" (Crazy about Clara). Did anyone else watch it? Anyway, I did and actually liked it. Due to low ratings it got cancelled. Does anyone have an idea which came first, the French or the German version? The German one aired in the beginning of 2007 when I remember it correctly.

It's a new dawn. It's a new day. It's a new life. And I am feeling good.
The French..
Definitely the French! It aired 2005! I have never seen the German version. I didn't even know there was a German version until last week or so, when I accidentaly saw a clip on YouTube!
Can't wait for the 2nd season - French version! Even though the cast has changed I am looking forward to it. I was never a big fan of Frédéric Diefenthal and the new guy playing JP looks a lot better - shallow me.
I am sorry not to see Thierry Neuvic anymore though. But I think I've mentioned that... ;o)

Definitely French !
Yes, the French version aired 1st, in 2005, and a German channel decided in 2007 to adapt it for its audience, in Berlin. But due to low ratings (not like in France, where it was a hit !!) it got cancelled, as new_dawn said. I actually watched "Verrückt nach Clara", to compare, & I have to say that it is good, but it's not worth the original (it's not in Paris anymore & their Clara isn't that great ...)!
ps : someone should stop obsessing with Thierry Neuvic :D

Who, moi?
Yes, the French version aired 1st, in 2005, ..
It sure is a long wait for season 2 isn't it? I fear the second season won't be as much of a hit as the first season was. But we could still get some nice surprises.
Who is?.......................
Thierry Neuvic is the one without the camera.
BTW, what's that thing in your avatar, Maxime?

Ladurée ...

Yeah, I fell like the second season will be ok but their won't be as much chemistry as in 1st one, especially without Melanie Doutey who was great, the rest of the cast & of course Thierry Neuvic ^^
BTW, what's that thing in your avatar, Maxime?
It's a religieuse from Ladurée (an excellent, the best to me, Parisian pastry shop, very famous for its macarons)
