"Clara Sheller": Another tasty (and translated!) French treat

Hot on the heels of Les Bleus, we have another French import of gay interest that's been helpfully translated for us: Clara Sheller. Right off the bat, let's get the obvious out of the way ... yes, it does sound distractingly like Clara Peller, the "Where's the beef?" old lady, but we must try to put this out of our minds and move on.

Clara Sheller is described as a cross between Sex and the City and Will & Grace, which may be stretching it a bit, but it does have potential. Melanie Doutey plays Clara, a young, single woman who lives with her gay best friend, Jean-Philippe (yes, another J.P.), played by Frédéric Diefenthal. Everyone assumes they're a romantic couple, though, because J.P. is still in the closet to his family and the people at work.

In the first clip, J.P.'s boss wants him to his mentor his son, but J.P. is reluctant, until he meets the son. Afterwards, Clara and J.P. have an awkward dinner at his parents house, who believe the two are in love, and J.P. reveals that he's not quite ready to come out.

Like I said, this show definitely has potential, and as we'll see in future clips, things get more complicated very quickly. While J.P. isn't as scintillating a character as Kevin from Les Bleus, he does present another side to urban gay life in Paris, and it should make for a fascinating coming-out story.

You can see the first clip after the break. Thanks to AE reader bitchplease for the heads up, and our old friend ZTube31 for more great translations.
