"AbFab" not so fabulous to Fox

Kristen Johnston and Kathryn Hahn have been outfoxed

We've been fuming and ranting talking about the American remake of Britcom classic Absolutely Fabulous for months.

We've been horrified discussed the fact that an American remake would dilute the original, and there was no way that any actors could hold a candle to Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley in the iconic roles of Edina and Patsy.

Even the casting of capable performers Kristen Johnson and Kathryn Hahn just could not assuage our fears that this ... was ... a ... mistake.

But it turns out our fears may have been for naught. Fox has decided to pass on AbFab.

Wait a minute. Fox passed? The same network that gave the greenlight to Sit Down, Shut Up and Who's Your Daddy? Well, now I'm curious to see what they thought wouldn't work.

It's unlikely that another network will pick up AbFab, so we'll probably never know if this remake could have defied our low expectations. But now I'm dying to see the pilot, just to get a glimpse of what Fox believed wasn't as air-worthy as The Princes of Malibu.

    It was probably less about

It was probably less about the quality (or lack thereof) of the show and more about the demographics it would bring in.  Nothing about this seems targeted for the lowbrow, pubescent trashy teens that they usually go after, so I'm not surprised they passed.

Lets just see the positive side of this...

This will never get done. Dont touch the Ab Fab!

    I have to say...

I have to say, I am a bit curious....

But, really, it's probably just for the best.

Better to watch the DVDs & reruns then have this get all americanized and unwatchable...

    Probably for the best

Now THIS is an appropriate use of a pre-emptive strike.
