"Diva" is a term that's tossed around way too casually these days.  Lena Horne is a diva--for me, right now, THE diva.  Streisand, Midler, Minnelli, Diana Ross (though I don't care for her), Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Tina Turner, Etta James, Annie Lennox, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn--those are divas.  Bigger-than-life women of grand voice who have some mileage on them, and have paid their dues.  Eartha Kitt--now that was a diva.  You cannot be a diva when you aren't even old enough to have graduated from high school.

He kind of nails it.

Adele and Leona i can see, but Kelly and Miley aren't even close.

I do agree with dbark on the divas he mentioned, but those are divas of the past, the divas of this millenium and the future are Christina Aguilera, Pink, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Mary J, Blige, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, etc.

Just wanted to let everyone know (I own all 3 Savage Garden albums and all 3 of his solo albums, the man is BEYOND AWESOME!!).

Now, as for his comments, I agree that it does kind of suck that Will and Grace did play on those stereotypes for so long, but for better or worse, it made gay US TV history, and will forever stay there, so despite its flaws, I still have to applaud the show for bringing POSITIVE gay characters into the household of people whom might never had. Also, considering that the show started 10 years ago, it's crazy to think about how far we've come and that fact that now the show is over we have ZERO leading gay character network (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.) representation today. Now I won't go any more into it b/c I've already lost hours of my life talking in various mediums about the gay representation of Will & Grace, so I'll just leave it at that.

Lastly, where are the rest of those Gareth/Jack photos! I wanted to see a slash happy ending!!

You mean to tell me Beyonce didn't barg... get asked to headline?  I'm shocked since she's so gre(puke)at...  Kelly Clarkson has her gaggle of gays so its not so strange to see her on the list, but I have to ask how many other 'real' divas turned down their offer before VHI was desperate enough to get Miley Cyrus.  My guess is at least 100...

Man!!! Is it wrong for me to like better gareth-david than the barrowman himself, and I actually still don't like the briefs guy, I'd like just a plain cute muscle guy in briefs.

P.S. That diva casting really sucks.

I just watched the clip of that video game.  In the article the creators excuse it as juvenile humor aimed at 12-18 year old boys.  The actual game shows the guy blowing the head off naked guys and then the bodies laying there in a bloody mess.  Besides the violence (which, cartoonish as it is, is still appalling) you've got cartoon depictions of full frontal nudity and longer sequences of full on anal raping than you could probably get away with in an NC-17 movie.  What kind of screwed up 12 year old is this guy looking for??

I thought they did a decent job of showing some vareity in gay men with the various paramours of the leads.  From the "hot gay nerd" to Vince and all the men in between.  They even had Will falling in love with a black, gay, Canadian man! 

 

Oh, and the briefs guy?  Lemme go git my sponge!  That boy needs a bath!

I think  I am going to have to do a torchwood challenge on my live journal with that piccie Janto of course LOL
