Happy birthday to out British actor Antony Cotton who turns 34 today.
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
The American Psychological Association announced today there is no evidence to support the claims that sexual orientation can be changed through therapy.
GLAAD has responded to the questions surrounding this year's Network Responsibility Index, specifically why daytime TV and some cable networks were not included. Basically, it comes down to ratings and lack of staff.
Movieline.com has also taken time out to respond to those rumors of Gerard Butler's bisexuality declaration. Sorry, but the interview is a fake.
Above you can see Current TV's Bryan Safi with the latest That's So Gay video. This episode is about gay commercials, and while most of the examples have been covered here on AfterElton, I can never get enough of that predatory Quizno's oven.
The third season of the randy soap opera Paradise Falls will debut on Canada's Showcase channel on Wednesday, September 2nd. There's no word yet on if or when it will premiere on HERE TV, but I certainly hope it does. In addition to the hotness of the actors (who are frequently divested of clothing), the show has that certain Canadian ... something that makes it special.
FINALLY!!! I have been waiting for season 3 to finally air on Showcase! It already premiered on HereTV over a year ago; I can't believe it has taken so long to get season 3 on Showcase, considering that is the station that the series originally debuted on in the first place!
Unfortunately it is not currently available on DVD. Kim Poirer (Roxy Hunter) reported on her MySpace page a year or so ago that there was talk about releasing the show on DVD...but so far nothing has been released.
For customers in the U.S., the 3rd season is available for download at Amazon.com.
I agree with the people who've commented over on the article page that this is about as relevent as saying the Earth is round, but at least it gives us the backing to say, "See! Even the APA aren't stupid!" to the religious nuts. Granted they won't listen to a word of it, but it'll add something to the never-ending argument conundrum. I love watching logic and religion go in circles! Makes for a fun dinner party game!

I remember watching this a few years ago, did it go on hiatus or something? It started way back in 2001, yet this is only season 3. Bizarre. I figured it'd been cancelled when all I saw was reruns.
The show has a very odd production schedule. Season 1 was in 2001, season 2 was in 2004 and season 3 debuted on HereTV in 2008 and is coming to Showcase in 2009. I think the delays between seasons is a money issue--Canadian shows don't have as much money to work with, and I think it took them a while to get funding for another season.
I've watched the Progressive commerical quite a few times and although I got kind of a gay feeling about the guy with the glasses I never noticed he had a gay flag on his shirt.
I guess as far as gearing commercials to a gay audience, companies have been doing that sort of thing with black people. If you've ever watched tv stations geared toward a black audience you'll suddenly seem commercials with all black people that you don't see or see rarely on other stations.
Orbitz
I've seen 3 or 4 Orbitz commercials that featured gay couples (blatantly) on regular network television loads of times.
That's my only quibble.
Great Briefs Today.
Paradise Falls season 3
well damn ...
I misunderstood the press release. I thought this was a new season, but it is the season that's already been aired on HERE.

Oh well, it's good news for you, Dermie!

Just FYI, Shout Factory is releasing the first season of Thirtysomething later this month with (I presume) more to follow.

Shout Factory is awesome, they put out some very obscure or much-beloved shows. That's where I am getting Peyton Place from.
You are my new superhero!
Bryan Safi
That was hilarious, and so true. I don't have cable, so I've never seen the ads aimed at gays. I liked the "separate but equal jeans'" bit too. haha
