AfterElton Briefs: "AbFab" gets its Saffron, another peek at Barrowman's tale, and more!

Will Young enjoys fashion week in London (Pic: Getty)

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Out singer Will Young has become quite the ubiquitous presence at UK celebrity functions (hey ... he's the Cheyenne Jackson of London!) Actually, in this pic we're more intrigued with the person behind him. No, not the blonde with the Joanna Lumley-circa-New Avengers hairdo, but the mannequin (or is it?) in back with the blue rubber suit and the ... inflatable bananas on her head?
  • There's good and bad news for fans of David Blue. Gay sprite Michel Ausiello is reporting that the former Ugly Betty star has nabbed a starring role in the new Sci-Fi Channel series Stargate Universe. The bad news is this probably means there's absolutely no chance of seeing his adorable Cliff character on Betty again. We wish him the best of luck, but is it just me, or is Stargate quickly approaching CSI territory in the amount of spin-offs?
  • In pilot news, The CW has officially given the greenlight to the new Melrose Place pilot (but there's still no word if any of the characters are gay.) And there's more news about the upcoming American remake of Absolutely Fabulous. We already told you about the casting of Edina (Kathryn Hahn) and Patsy (Kristen Johnston), and it now appears that the crucial role of long-suffering daughter Saffron will be played by relative newcomer Zosia Mamet (the daughter of potty-mouthed playwright David Mamet and actress Lindsay Crouse).

A "shadey" John Barrowman

  • Last week we gave you a preview of the new Torchwood comic strip co-written by out star John Barrowman and his sister Carole. Popculturezoo.com has more details and images from Captain Jack and the Selkie.
  • Finally, in sad news, the Oscar Wilde Bookshop, believed to be the nation's oldest gay & lesbian bookstore, will close its doors on March 29th. The Greenwich Village landmark first opened in 1967 and has endured multiple owners and locations but couldn't overcome the current economic crisis.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!
