Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Oscar winner Tilda Swinton received the "Career Achievement Honor" last night at the 2008 American Film Institute Festival. The gay ally has been a striking figure in cinema ever since she worked with the late, out auteur Derek Jarman on a number of films in the 80's. Never one to be pigeonholed, she transitions easily from independent fare such as The Deep End and Orlando to roles in commercial hits such as The Chronicles of Narnia.
- There's a debate raging at AMERICAblog.com over a post titled Why is the Sundance Film Festival taking place in the hate state of Utah?. Because the Mormon Church in that state spent so much money getting Proposition 8 passed, people are being urged to boycott various Utah businesses and pressure Robert Redford into moving his iconic (and very gay friendly) festival. What do you think?
- Head on over to The Gays of Daytime for a look at an interview Soap Opera Weekly did with former Forbidden Love writer Tom Chroust. He's now writing for All That Matters, and he has some interesting things to say about how far he's allowed to go with gay content. Btw, you can read more about these shows in our new weekly column The Gays of our Lives.
- Above you can see a cheeky new ad from Tourism Montreal titled Dave Does Montreal, which is aimed at getting the gay tourism dollar. If this is what I can expect when I visit, I am so there!
- And finally, after the huge haul of cash Sex & The City: The Movie grabbed, a sequel was inevitable, and now star Kim Cattrall has confirmed it. While I enjoyed the movie, I thought it was a let down from the series. Maybe it was the running time (two and a half hours) or that practically nothing was done with the gay characters of Anthony and Stanford, but it just didn't have the spirit that the series did.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Well...........
Tilda Swinton, gives off that old Hollywood vibe to me. She just might be the Greta Garbo of our time. It seems that everything she is in, she gives one hell of a performance. She is one of those actress, that you can't wait to see her in something because you know it's a Tour De Force performance. She is truly a humble gal and I like that even more. Nothing extra about her and she isn't one of those actresses that you have to worry about getting to big for her britches. She seems focused solely on the work and leave the extraness of Hollywood, that has brought down too many talented people, alone.
You talked a little about Sex and The City and the sequel and our boys Stanny and Anthony and their not so-there-put-there storylines. It seems that 4 years have pasted in the movie and the two once rivals are now a couple. How predictable is that but how Fabulous is that in a city like New York, where two, once enemies are now dating. That right there alone, is of a plot or storyline for a sequel, especially with all this Proposition 8, floating around our community. It would be nice to see them attempting to get hitched. Many people that checked the movie out weren't as enthused as I was because I wasn't disappointed by the movie one bit. It seems that they pretty much had to cover all bases and they did. As much as I would love to see where Stanford's and Anthony's relationship went, as a fan of the show I can only imagine, until the next movie. True fans of the show care as much about The girls (Carrie, Miranda, Sam and Char) as well as their 'Safety Nets'/ surrogate husbands/ the gay best friends. Most of us have guys have Carries, Samanthas, Charolettes in our lives and as much as we are sometimes seen as co-stars, they always make us feel like leading men.
