AfterElton Briefs: "Dear Harvey", Kyan Douglas wears a padded butt, and more!

Kristen Johnston and Kathryn Hahn trying their best

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • No, it wasn't a dream. The American remake of the Brit classic Absolutely Fabulous has started filming, with Kristen Johnston and Kathryn Hahn stepping into the heels of Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders. What do you think about the look?
  • Sascha Baron Cohen's much anticipated Bruno will get a sneak peek this weekend in Austin, Texas. An early review says "I dug it and I'm not even a homosexual!" I think that's a thumbs-up.

The Woz!

  • Above is Steve "THE WOZ" Wozniak performing on Dancing With The Stars. The former pseudo-boyfriend of Kathy Griffin didn't score well with out judge Bruno Tonioli, who said he was like a "teletubbie going mad at a gay pride parade". OUCH!
  • Just when I think I've seen it all, here's a clip involving domestic pixie Rachael Ray, out former Queer Eye guy Kyan Douglas ... and something called "padded butt boxer briefs".

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

    Re: Skinny Edina

Is that what passes for fat in Hollywood, these days? Do they not have K-Marts in the greater Los Angeles area?

    Ab Fab error

Patsy and Eddie would never be caught dead standing next to a garbage pail. Really, Sweetie Darling, what were you thinking with that picture?

    That's all I am saying...

    Kyan

I always loved Kyan on Queer Eye, he was my favorite, and we've seen too little of him and too much of some of the others since then.  Putting aside RR for a moment, I'd just like to go on record that I consider "padded butt boxer brief" to be false advertising in the worst way, and despite the number of men who would benefit from these, it should be a punishable offense to deceive a gay man with them.  Can you imagine the discovery when they came off?  I might want an exchange of goods, and the bar might be closed at that point!  I kid - mostly.  My younger self wouldn't be kdding, but my older one is.

I'm glad you're a nerd, based on that article.  ;)  But are you sure?

    What the heck

is Leo (BriefsGuy) wearing above the waist? Seriously, unless it's some sort of crotchless underwear he tried to put on as a t-shirt, I have no idea what it is.

    Bruno has Tinky Winky

Bruno has Tinky Winky envy.  He only wishes he was that fabulous, instead of a freakish stereotype.

    US Ab Fab

Judging from just the picture above they seem to have the over top desperate look of Patsy and Edina down. Of course, I'm always apprehensive about British comedies being brought stateside.
I'll watch the pilot episode just for the hell of it but unless it's good, it will probably end there.

    I have to say...

Is it me or do you think the remake fairies are trying to hard on Absolutely Fabulous. The costuming looks like they are doing a parody and not an homage. Kristen is an unused talent who should know that going to over the top is just wrong.

...oh and for once I have to comment about today's Briefs Guy... HOT!

Dear Harvey @ San Diego State University

Hi! The play Dear Harvey by Patricia Loughrey is being produced by San Diego State University's School of Theatre, Television, and Film. The play is a tribute to the life and times of the first openly gay public official: San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk.

The production will take place in SDSU's very own Experimental Theatre from Sept. 24th to Oct. 2nd.

So if you're in the San Diego area, join us in a night of paying tribute to a wonderful leader and activist!
