AfterElton Briefs: Howard Stern rules, whistling orangutans, and more!

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Out filmmaker Crayton Robey premiered a rough cut of his new documentary Making The Boys this week at the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. The film examines the origin and controversy of the seminal gay play and film The Boys In The Band.
  • A couple of hateful items to pass along: North Carolina Representative Virginia Foxx lying about Matthew Shepard, and a guest column in The Des Moines Register that's sad and infuriating.

If you are wise you will listen to ... Catherine Zeta-Jones as Susan Boyle?

  • Above you can see an "artist's rendering" of what Catherine Zeta-Jones might look like if she played Susan Boyle in a movie. According to dailymail.co.uk, the actress is dying to play the Britian's Got Talent star. Personally, I think she looks more like an Oompa-Loompa MILF.
  • If there was ever any doubt that shock-jock Howard Stern is a gay ally, this should prove it once and for all. It's one of the strongest marriage equality statements I've heard from a straight man.
  • Finally, you can now apply online for the second season of Logo's smash series RuPaul's Drag Race.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

    Speechless

I honestly don't know what to say about that couple in DesMoines. It's just...

THIS is how they honour their son's memory? I want to be sympathetic to any parent who loses a child, but I just cannot shake this gut-level reaction that they're lying their asses off.

I don't believe for a second their son was "recruited" into anything, I don't believe his gay friends shunned him, and I don't believe he said that the LGBT community are a cult.

Am I the only one who had this reaction?

    Disgusting Christians

What a vile and disgusting couple of evil Christians from Iowa.

I feel terribly sad that he was born to the Schowengerdts. The real tragedy is that this couple were given a chance to learn compassion and yet even after the death of their gay son they only have an ugly and dark heart to show to the world. We should pray that their dead son forgives them.

    Oh, Don't Get Me Started. . .

. . .on that sick, sad human being named Virginia Foxx, Republican representative of North Carolina. . .

. . .let's concentrate instead on the passing of the Matthew Shepard Act.

    Rest in peace, Matthew.
