Excited yet?
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- The closer we get to the Thursday, August 20th at 10PM ET premiere of Project Runway on ... Lifetime, the more I believe the switch from Bravo is a mistake. I don't know why ... just a feeling. Remember when The Hogan Family moved from NBC to CBS in its final season? Of course you do. And remember how it was never the same show after the switch?
- Massachusetts' attorney general filed a lawsuit today seeking federal marriage benefits for about 16,000 gay and lesbian couples who have legally wed in that state.
- The National Education Association says yes to marriage-equality! Yeah for teachers! But there's a catch.
Derek Webb's new song may not be music to many people's ears

- Via Good As You comes the new song from Christian artist Derek Webb that is sure to cause a fuss in the evangelical world. Ha!
- The Advocate's editor-in-chief, Jon Barrett, responds to the furor over putting whatshisface on the August cover.
- Kathy Griffin will host the roast of Joan Rivers in L.A. on July 26th, to be aired on Comedy Central August 9th. Expect potty-mouth!
- A British actor named John Barrowman has responded to homophobic comments made by some church guy.
"You undermined my authori-tay!"

- Finally, for those of you jonesing for a True Blood fix, gay reporter sprite Michael Ausiello has some SPOILERS for the month of August, and all I can say is can't ... freaking ... wait!

I saw that john barrowman thing and it was on loose women, he also had his parents (who are very christian) stand up to say that theres nothing for there son to be sorry for, which i thought was quite touching.
As for the model, how bout Sue-mo Joekerface, although i do like Gaysha haha!
My tonuge would catch your tongue...were the world mine :-)
A British actor named John Barrowman
odd to see Snicks write the above given the amount of coverage Barrowman has had in these pages. Like a US comedian named Joan Rivers...
Barrowman (Not a Torchwood fight comment, though!)
Christian Music
If what you've posted lately is indicative of anything, then there is a questioning trend starting in Christian music. I remember when I was a kid, some conservative church folks would try to show me passages in the Bible that seemed to support slavery and oppression of non whites. For the longest time I've felt the same feeling when I've been confronted by "scripture based" homophobia. But if this is even a small trend, it's really encouraging.

Christian Music
What a nice surprise that someone in the Christian community is actually taking a stand. The song is pretty decent too.!
The Advocate and Hilton
Perez Hilton is on the cover to sell magazines. It is a business decision not a "he is a name in the news" decision. I agree he needs to be truly profiled well, but in the month where Dan Choi was kicked out of the military and the President came under heavy fire for gay issues, why are we turning to Hilton for someone to talk about? The original decision and the video vlog commentary by the editor are proving that magazines of a monthly format or even weekly format are dead media that is too slow to speak to a public hungry for up to the minute news and information.
How singularly innocent I look this morning.

Hasn't Project Runway been bad for ages now?
Project Run away from home...
I think I've gone through all the necessary steps in the grieving process with PR. The grief, rage, denial, and bargaining have subsided so now there's a sense of relief and release. I hope the housewives of America will give the show a proper home, but I don't intend on watching it. It will never have the magic that it had on Bravo, nuff said...
Speaking of Christian Music... blech! Hate the stuff. Probably more than country, and that's a big pit of loathing to begin with. Having said that... kudos to the guy for have the big ones to go there.

So much for captions. I wanted to add that I had never heard of Perez Hilton until he began making his regular appearances on AE. At first I though wags must be making fun of Paris. This Hilton, however, is pretty easy to ignore--if you would just ignore him! Indeed, I have had such a surfeit of Hilton on AE that I would be very reluctant to buy any magazine that carried an advertisement for him on its cover. There have been other Advocate covers that inspired a similar response, but I don't want to impugn a magazine that has brought me so much reading pleasure over the years. It's a personal aesthetic. Last week, when I was in London, I dropped into Soho to buy a copy of Attitude, which is also a reliably readable mag, but I was deterred from doing so when I saw the cover--yet another photo of Bruno, whose name is now synonymous with "gay" and whose image is inescapable. I say, let's declare the Bruno joke officially over before the movie is released. I hate to be a part of the Bruno marketing machine, but here, God help us, is the cover:
"The mountain has wings."
