AfterElton Briefs: "Noah's Arc" jumps box office records, Jerry Lewis drops the F-bomb (again!), and more!

Michael Steger hates to break it to you, but his character on 90210 is not gay.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Since 90210 was resurrected from the dead, viewers have been wondering if the show would join the millennium and acknowledge the existence of gays in California (something the original only briefly hinted at). Rumors have been flying that one of the cast members would be coming out soon, and many people believed it would be the character of Navid. Alas, it's not to be, as actor Michael Steger is eager to point out. Oh well, is that guy who owns the Peach Pit still around?
  • Hot on the heels of their sure-to-be triumphant collaboration on Milk, out director Gus Van Sant and writer Dustin Lance Black will be teaming up again to bring a classic Tom Wolfe book to the big screen. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is based on the true story of writer Ken Kesey and his experiences driving around the country in a day-glo painted bus, while partaking of certain substances. Far out!

  • In the "less is more" department comes word that the theatrical release of Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom broke box office records in its opening weekend. The film took in $151,680 on just five screens, or over $30,000 per screen, which is one the best per screen averages of any film released this year! Logo (our parent company) is now securing more screens for the second weekend.
  • And finally, Jerry Lewis is at it again. You may remember that last year he caused controversy by letting the gay F-bomb slip during his annual telethon. He apologized promptly, and offered no excuses, but this latest incident calls into question his sincerity. He was being interviewed on Australian TV, and when asked his opinion on the sport cricket, responded ""Oh, cricket? It's a fag game. What are you, nuts?". He topped it off by pretending to hold a cricket bat with a limp wrist. That's so groaningly stupid we should just go ahead and call it The Day the Clown...Died.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!
