AfterElton Briefs: Rudy the no-show, Matthew Mitcham ordered out of Mexico, and more!

Fashion guru Marc Jacobs attends the 4th Annual New York Times Sunday With The Magazine last night in NYC. He also announced yesterday that his wedding to fiancee Lorenzo Martone will take place in June in Provincetown, Massachusetts.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • We absolutely adore the satirical website theonion.com, and this news report on a mid-west gay couple refusing to marry in Iowa should explain why.
  • Out Olympian Matthew Mitcham has been ordered to return from Mexico by Australian sports officials over fear of swine flu.
  • There's an interesting debate over at nytimes.com on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". The usual suspects are involved, but my favorite is the guy who basically warns "but it would mean gay dudes would get to see straight dudes naked!"

Mark Hsiao & Howard Koeppel wed, but Rudy Giuliani couldn't be bothered

  • Thrice-married Rudy Giuliani was a no-show at the wedding of gay pals Mark Hsiao and Howard Koeppel over the weekend. I guess he really is adamant about that "sanctity of marriage" thing. Did I mention he's thrice-married?
  • Finally, if we didn't need another reason to dislike Joe "the Plumber" Wurzelbacher, in an interview with christianitytoday.com he delivered this jaw-dropper: "I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children". Wow. Just ... wow. What I really love is that the comments about what he said are overwhelmingly negative. Isn't his fifteen minutes up yet?

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

ah, hate is in the air...how sweet

"I've had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn't have them anywhere near my children".

^ friends that are homosexual? that phrasing just cracks me up.....and what really cracks me up is that i think his ass is lying for the sake of making him look even just a tad accepting of...homosexuals. I am soooooooo damn sick of the "i have gay friends, therefore..." crap.

geez....who will it be next? is being an ignorant and hateful ass seriously the newest way to fame? sure seems that way.

I can't figure out who has been worse. Miss. Ca or now this guy? hell, maybe they are equally worse. I'm gonna go punch my wall or something.

He must have the same invisible "friends" as Sarah Palin

And who the hell would be friends with someone who you thought might hurt your children?

Yeah I have friends who are plumbers.....

I would soon see them go to the gas chambers than having them get close to my kitchen to fix the leak. Is that hateful enough?!! Or do I need  psychiatric council?

This is where we are different...

I actually know people - but they are not my friends - who are of the "plumber" persuasion! And although I can sympathize with them - I cannot condone their lifestyle ( Something in Leviticus)......

    Joe the Plumber has Children!?!?!

. . .well, there's future profit for a couple of psychiatrists (or crystal meth dealers)!
