"Now the time is here, for Iron Man Tim Gunn to spread fear!" (Illustration: Phil Jimenez)
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- How cool is this! The four-part comic book Models, Inc. will debut on August 26th, and the first issue will feature Project Runway star Tim Gunn ... as himself. Wait, It gets better! "The New York Times reports that in the second story of Issue 1, the 55-year-old Gunn dons Iron Man’s armor to save a fashion exhibit from evildoers." Best of all, the cover is by renowned out artist Phil Jimenez.
- Marie Osmond opens up about her lesbian daughter: "I love my daughter! She's my baby girl, come on," she said. "So what if she's gay? She's my daughter and she's an amazing woman and a good kid. I raised her, she better be good." Did I mention Marie has always been my favorite kinda nutty creepy-dollmaker?
- "Lying sack of dog mess": In case you haven't seen it, above you can witness the carnage as Glenn Beck is torn limb from limb on The View.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

"Speculation" is the last refuge of cowards
Adam Lambert . . . a thinking man's something or other
First off, Entertainment Weekly should have never asked that question at that time. If he had talked about his sexuality that story would have most definitely overshadowed Kris. I agree with whoever said (on another thread) that it would be a very unclassy thing to do. Of course, he's ended up overshadowing Kris anyway, but not because he grabbed the limelight.
But I have to admit that I'm really fascinated by the way Adam has handled this. It's like a strange cultural experiment.
Theory #1: He has simply discerned that the best way to be a pop star is never to give people exactly what they want.
Theory #2: He is waiting for some kind of opportune moment which may be timed with an artistic gesture/performance.
Theory #3: What he said: it is not hanging over his head, so - while he's chilling - everyone else will just have to chill too. This is the one that fascinates me because it does seem to challenge all sorts of expectations about identity and self-expression. Why is the entire media waiting with baited breath for him to say three words? No one will ever convince me that he's trying to hide who he is. This is a guy who responded to Simon's charge of theatricality by perkily explaining "But I got to play dress-up" and swishing his coat like a skirt. He has no problem saying "Yes, that was me kissing another guy in those pictures" and yet people are preposterously begging him to caption those photos with a magazine headline.
So, anyway, Adam has me by the brain.
He has me by the brain too,
He has me by the brain too, and I love it. Let him play, all the best rockstars do.
David Bowie said he was gay - and he isn't - just to play with people. Then he said it was the worst thing he ever did, and then he was Ziggy Stardust - Bisexual Alien Extraordinaire. Boy George prefered a cup of tea.
Androgyny and Ambiguity are a good thing.
Tim Gunn is Iron Man? Who
Tim Gunn can be Iron Man
WOW!!!
