AfterElton Hot 100 Sneak Peek: James Franco

Every day until the results are announced for the 2009 AfterElton.com Hot 100 poll we're leaking beefcake at a steady rate of a hunk a day.

Today's fan-fave is actor James Franco, who can do brooding and smoldering better than anyone of his generation. We first noticed him in the short-lived but lamented series Freaks & Geeks, then he really caught our eye when we saw him stripped down to a g-string and tied to a bed post in the teen comedy Whatever It Takes.

His star started to skyrocket with a Golden Globe-winning and Emmy-nominated performance in the TV movie James Dean, and continued to ascend with his role of Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man films.

It was last year that proved to be a turning point in his career, with two inspired performances in wildly different films. He received a Golden Globe nomination (and stole the film) for playing a perpetually stoned drug dealer in the comedy Pineapple Express, and he was part of the ensemble that made Milk the award-winning success it was.

It was his performance as Harvey Milk's boyfriend Scott Smith that opened the eyes of many people that James was more than just a pretty face.

To find out where James placed on this year's list, you'll have to come back for the results, but for now, enjoy this assortment of pictures of ... um, his pretty face!

    Amen!

I agree 100%. Also, is it wrong that the picture of him shaving his armpits is the 2nd sexiest one of all the pictures?! The first being the last one because his smile makes me (and probably puppies too) swoon!

    Franco. James Franco.

I watched Pineapple Express, Milk, Tristan + Isolde (one of my fav movies of all time), all 3 Spiderman movies because of him! You are one sexy, talented guy, my friend. I hope I see you for a long time, like Brad Pitt's career long. The scene in Pineapple Express near the end when you and Rogen were tied up behind one another and you guys were moving to free yourselves and Rogen was like "I'm going save you man", was the single funniest gay-implication scene in the history of life (for the readers who don't know what I'm talking about, you had to be there!)! I will never forget it. I hope you become this generation's Johnny Depp (i.e. taking on roles very different from yourself and having nothing limit your imagination)!

Hugs and Kisses XOXOXOXOXO. And yeah, you are alot more than just a pretty face, alright. Oh, and you were in my Top 10 for the Hot 100 List!

Talent. looks and smart as a whip

I remember that TNT film on James Dean that James starred in. I've been fascinated with JD since I was a teenager and saw the film, Rebel Without A Cause for the very first time way back then. JF in that TNT adaptation made me see JD in his performance. Then, I saw him in Freaks and Geeks, which was one of the BEST small screen adaptations of high school life that I've seen in all my life. I was one of those kids in my high school days. I love that James feels so comfortable in his talent and ability that he takes on roles that he's interested in and it's not just all about being a film STAR. He's an actor, who just also happens to be gorgeous, talented AND smart. I believe that he's a Columbia University student or graduate at this point. Great selection to this year's poll. I love James Franco! I

I love James Franco! I really hopes he lands higher up on the list than he did last year.

I really can't say enough about him

Gorgeous, smart, talented and so charming you can scarcely breathe. (I practically fainted at the Milk press junket.)

PLUS he supports our issues -- and has marched in protest of Prop 8.

    What's not to like?

    New Franco Fan!

I must admit that when I first saw James about 7 years ago, I just thought he was another dime a dozen pretty boy. But just in the past year, with Milk and Pineapple Express, I see him in a whole new light. He's as beautiful as he is intelligent and talented, and I eagerly await to see his future films. And if my suspicions about him are true, he's going to be one to watch and support for a long time coming.

He just missed my top 10!

It was between him and Paul Rudd. Paul's closer to my own age, so I figured in the parallel universe where all hot straight guys are gay, I'd have a better shot with him.

(Of course, in that universe, I'm way better looking.)
