Christian and Olli are proving that love is the universal language
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- You may have heard of a show called Forbidden Love (we've covered it a ...few times on the blog), and thanks to
this interview in Soap Opera Weekly, many more people will be able to experience the talent of Thore Scholermann and Jo Weil. Nothing is really said in the interview that we haven't heard before (except for the fact that one of Jo's favorite shows is Grosse Pointe...who knew?), but it's still exciting to see them breaking out in a big way.
- Casting has been announced for the long-awaited, much anticipated Broadway revival of the iconic musical West Side Story. This version will take a different approach than what we've seen before: "This show will be radically different from any other production of West Side Story ever done. The musical theatre and cultural conventions of 1957 made it next to impossible for the characters to have authenticity. Every member of both gangs was always a potential killer even then. Now they actually will be. Only Tony and Maria try to live in a different world…"
- Above you can see a clip from the Onion News Network, the only news source I trust (besides the Weekly World News, of course). They tell the inspiring story of Ship's Captain, the only openly gay horse competing in racing. Even though he's had to endure the ignorance of others in the sport, he can still race with his head held high. Giddyup!
- Tom Ford (yes, the Gucci guy) is set to direct the film version of Christopher Isherwood's novel A Single Man, and word is that the cast is now set. Colin Firth will play a gay man haunted by the death of his boyfriend, played by Matthew Goode, and given support by his best friend, played by Julianne Moore.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
This guy!

Just say Neigh!
(No, actually I LOVE THE ONION)
Reading the Playbill article
"A Single Man' is Isherwood's masterpiece
I shudder to think what Tom Ford might do with it. But Colin Firth and Julianne Moore are goo casting.
The book was written when Isherwood thought that he and Don Bacharady -- who had entered a rocky patch in their long, long relationship -- might break up. He thought about it and felt it would be as if Chris had died. So then he began to think of what life would be like for him if Chris suddenly did die. The book's hero s a teacher but he lives in Santa Monica canyon -- like Isherwood and Bachardy (Don is still there in the house they shared.) It's a very beautifully written 24-hours-in-the-life-of tale. I'm crossing my fingers that the film turns out OK. Meanwhile if you haven't read the book do so immediately!
