Nuke on Pre-Emmy list, "As the World Turns" writers still on ... different list
Good news for fans of Van Hansis and Jake Silberman. The PTB at As The World Turns have submitted their names for Daytime Emmy nods. Each year, every soap opera submits a list of names from their show they feel deserve Emmy recognition. It's the equivalent of the "For Your Consideration" Oscar campaigns, but without ... the campaigning. Nuke has been put forward in the "Outstanding Younger Actor" category, along with Jesse Lee Sofer, who despite the name, is NOT a southern sheriff in Eat My Dust, but part of the "babymama" drama.
LUKE AND NOAH ARE ABOUT TO KISS BUT ARE INTERRUPTED BY A __(noun)___ THAT ___(verb)___ , SO THEY GAZE LONGINGLY INTO EACH OTHER'S ___(body part)___ AND DECIDE TO ____(boring farm chore)___ INSTEAD. In sadder news, ventriloquist puppet/writer's caffeine induced hallucination Cowboy Jack has been ruled ineligible for Emmy consideration, which is a shame considering he gave his all to the role.

Not the most flattering photo of the twosome, is it?
They both look quite goofy in that shot. haha
On a serious note, I love their characters + would like to see them get Emmy honors.

good point, but...
I suspect Van will make the list...
...though his material before turning 26 wasn't the best (well, the stuff after wasn't all that great either), but he always gave it his all.
As for the writers, well, it's incredibly frustrating. Soaps have always been underappreciated as an art form, and these scribes aren't helping things. There's the occasional day that is pretty good, then the next day will suck out loud. The Nuke-Ameera s/l is from desperation; I got into an argument on another board from someone stating that by even including both a gay couple AND a Muslim girl, the show should be admired--my response was that I'm all for diversity on the soaps (I think a more ethnically diverse cast would bring in more viewers), but that the story isn't being told very well, and we can see where it's going...there's no suspense.
In fact, the only story on ATWT that is holding my interest right now is the whole Casey/Alison/Matt/Gray/Vienna/Henry storyline (because it does have some genuine suspense, and the acting, especially by Eric William Morris [Matt], Marnie Schulenburg [Alison] and Ewa da Cruz [Vienna] is very good), and I do have to applaud the writers for at least integrating so many different stories together, something they weren't doing last year, when there was barely any interaction of characters outside their own storylines.
