AfterElton Briefs: How You Can Help With The Haiti Disaster, An Instant Classic From "The Daily Show", And More!

From MTV News: In the wake of Tuesday's devastating 7.0 earthquake in Haiti, singer Wyclef Jean has issued an urgent plea for help for his struggling homeland.

"Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced," Jean wrote on his website last night.

And as ABC News reports, "Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and the population of 9 million already faces high rates of tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, viral and respiratory disease."

You can watch Wyclef Jean and author Edwige Danticat both talking to Anderson Cooper about this catastrophe in their homeland last night on CNN:

The Organization of American States Disaster Relief program is one of the most established relief programs in Haiti. They support Wyclef Jean's Yele Foundation. You can find out how you can help this already impoverished nation at http://www.PanAmericanRelief.org.

Ways you can help via texting right now include:
1. Text "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5 for Haitian Relief (it goes to the Yele Foundation)
2. Text "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10 (it goes to the American Red Cross).

And for further ways to help, the Huffington Post has a good list of aid organizations you may consider.
