AfterElton Briefs: Bryan Safi Celebrates Pride, A Firsthand Stonewall Account, Gay Teens Talk Their Truth, and More!

Plus Hot in Cleveland cools off, the AFA's e-mail campaign is a flop, the RuPaul's Drag Race Queens are shutting their mouths for a good cause, and Bebeh Kitty will melt your heart ... unless you're Ed.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear. Yes, we're serious. each Friday Briefs will also feature a pic up top that desperately needs captioning. We'll pick our fave suggestion from the comments and run it in the following week's post. Have fun! Drop your caption ideas in the comments, and check out last week's winner at the bottom of the page!

Weekend birthdays! Sean Hayes turns 40, and George Michael turns 47.

  • The ratings for TV Land's Hot in Cleveland dipped almost 30% in its second outing. All of those ladies are comedy gold, so why not write material that's worthy of them?
  • Fayetteville, Arkansas Mayor Lioneld Jordan has responded to the laughable e-mails he's received from the AFA about Will Phillips and the Pride parade. The show will go on! Usually, the comments in this kind of article make my stomach turn, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the sometimes hilarious gay-positive responses. But I have to say how thoroughly disappointed I am with the AFA e-mailer who wrote that the name of the town should be changed to "Gayetteville." You can do better than that. At least come up with something imaginative, like "Lafayetteville."

  • Below is an NPR first-hand account of the Stonewall Uprising by Michael Levine, who was at the NYC bar the night that became a seminal moment in civil rights history.

  • Below you can see a bebeh kitty wearing a tiny hat and eating an ice-cream cone (which I suspect is really cat food.) When I showed it it to Ed he said "I'm fairly certain that's defined under international treaties as weaponized cuteness." Ed is evil.

  • Below you can see CNN's Kyra Phillips (yes, that Kyra Phillips) report on the "True Colors" gay teen mentoring program in Hartford, Connecticut.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Thanks to everyone for participating! AARGH! This one was one of the toughest to decide with so many hilarious captions! But the winner this week is ...

"Who knew "It's Raining Men" would leave puddles?"

Thanks to Keven for this week's winning caption.
