Happy Birthday to out journalist Dan Savage, who turns 45 today.
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Just when you think that appallingly ignorant homophobic statements from politicians can't get any worse, Texas representative Louie Gohmert has has released a tirade that starts with the usual "if we allow same-sex marriage, then why not animals and corpses" schtick, and then somehow progresses to the obligatory mentioning of Hitler.
- ESPN's Body Issue doesn't come out until Friday but here is a "Making of" video that gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect. AE editor Michael Jensen got a look at a copy today and was surprised the men got almost as much (naked) face time as the women do. Warning: Slightly NSFW!
- Last week gay faves Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey and Madonna all released albums (yes, I still say albums), and the sales figures are in. In the battle of the divas, Madonna's Celebration Greatest Hits disc entered the chart at #7, Mariah's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel came in at a disappointing #4, and Barbra's Love is the Answer is the #1 album in the country. Go Babs!

Lance Bass is a knock out! (Pic: Braden Summers)

- New York photographer Braden Summers is making the rounds with the above pic, which features a hot and buff Lance Bass in a boxing ring.

Lance Bass
I've never really found lance that attractive but holy crap that picture is smokin.
The angle on the briefs guy is very intimate. That's all I can say without getting too naughty.
Lance Bass
Holy buckets!
He looks freakin hot as heck in that pic...

Agreed This is Streisand's Best in ages.... "Love is the Answer"
The new Streisand album is the one we have been waiting years for. The combination of Barbra and Diana Krall is lightening in a bottle. As a die hard Barbra fan it really makes me happy that her career has had such longevity. This is her 9th #1 album.
Streisand has has a #1 album in every decade since the 1960's.
What is also special is this note from Barbra that is on her website and was sent as an email to all her fans:
A Letter From Barbra
I was just told that Love Is The Answer came out at Number One, and I want to share that honor with all of you.. my fans, my friends.. who have made that possible. I want to share it as well with Diana Krall and Tommy LiPuma and everyone who worked on the album... with Jay Landers and especially my manager Marty Erlichman and my team at Columbia Records. You'd think that getting the news that you've been Number One in five consecutive decades would make you feel old, but this makes me feel young. Thank you all.
Love, Barbra

Streisand is a class act all the way around and often gets a bum rap that is not deserved.
PS I admire Bette's and Madonna's energy and their live performing but they just do not have the interpretive skills and pipes that Barbra has.
Madge and Mariah
There is a new That's Gay: No Homo
Don't you guys usually post them under the briefs?

Naming names
First off, I need to thank my parents for their brilliance in picking my name. Second, the "K" stands for "Karate." Third, call me Bill :)
Seriously, I was excited to see AfterElton picked it up. I am quite honored to be on your pages. And thank you so much for the kind words, I did my best.
Your ally,
Bill
Meanwhile,On The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart....
Black Eyed Peas have FINALLY been kicked out the #1 spot after 26 weeks.(split between "Boom,Boom,Pow!"<12 weeks> & "I Gotta Feeling"<14 weeks>)
The artist who did it? UK rapper Jay Sean with "Down".
This means that Mariah & Boyz 2 Men still have the song with the most weeks @ #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "One Sweet Day" which ruled for 16 weeks in the mid '90s
"Oh please! It's ten days bitching for every two days bliss with these two." Simone on Roman & Deniz "Alles was Zahlt"/"All That Matters"
Brian's clip is hilarious,
