AfterElton Briefs: Tracking Twitter Slurs, a "Sex" Tease, And More!

  • Above you can see the first teaser poster for the upcoming Sex & the City 2, which will be out next May. I have high hopes for this sequel, which will hopefully bring more to the table than the first film (whose high points were Gilles Marini's appendage and a scene with ... explosive diarrhea).
  • In ratings news, the fall finale of Glee hit a season high, while Modern Family notched its best ratings in ten weeks.

Paul O'Grady/Lily Savage

  • One Poll asked 5,000 UK gay men and lesbians for their top ten male and female gay icons. Most of the list proves that gay icons are pretty much the same everywhere, but there are a few exceptions. I'm not sure Shirley Bassey would rank so high in the U.S., along with Alan Carr. The only names I'm not all that familiar with are Paul O'Grady and his alter ego Lily Savage. Perhaps one of our UK readers could enlighten me?
  • Above you can see Joy Behar presenting a special gift-basket to out conservative blogger Andrew Sullivan after his decision to leave the Republican Party.
  • Speaking of Joy, during her Levi Johnston interview he mentioned that he's "never seen any gays in Wasilla". Here's an open letter to Levi from some actual gay Wasillians contradicting that assertion.
  • GLSEN has launched their ThinkB4YouSpeak campaign and has set up a counter to keep track of how often anti-gay slurs are used every day on Twitter. The goal is get down to zero, which is a tall order indeed.
